Is there any difference between a 4cyl (starfire) commodore clutch pedal and a 6cyl (202) commodore clutch pedal?

OR

Is there any difference between a Philippino box clutch pedal and a m20 clutch pedal?

i have my tri matic in a trans shop, while its there i am either going to change to a half bellhousing or get a convertor with nuts attached, previously i had a full bellhousing with a hole cut in the bottom to do the nuts up, then you have to rotate the fly wheel again to torque the bolts before, i have no access to the front crank bolt without pulling out all the fans, radiator & crap.

options are go to a half bellhousing, get a convertor with attached nuts and use standard high tensile bolts.
or
get a half bellhousing and keep the ARP torque convertor bolts and nuts.

its a supercharged six.
i guess what i need to know is do half housings brake easy or do torque convertor bolts shear off easy when you have extra torque and power.

hey guys. Could someone please clarify if the 3 and 4 speed clutch is the same. I know the commercial tonner one is heavy duty, but can I use a 3 speed clutch in a 4speed all aussie 6 cylinder. I seem to remember a difference in the thrust race/bearing/throwout bearing, but my memory is often questionable.

i have a late 6 trimatic, hurst promatic, 2800 dominator, m90 supercharged 179, vac is of carb side of the blower.
i have slipping under acceleration in 2nd and 3rd,still shifts at the right load/rpm, oil is red, was running fine before for months with the blower but a week ago it started slipping in 2nd & 3rd, 1st is still good.
before pulling the box out for new clutches what else can cuase 2nd and 3rd to slip?
could it be as simple as a modulator or filter or sludge in the servo piston cover something?

hope someone can help,im having a problem with the rat trap set up in my 186 3spd all syncro in a ht premier.have just fitted new clutch and has a very poor pedal. have since taken the vehicle to an old holden clutch specialist, but hes a bit confused by whats going on. we believe it may have a wrong part in the rat trap set up, but dont have another one to compare it to. if any one can post a few good pics of this set up in a ht if theyve got it would be greatly appreciated.

The missus and I are on holidays from QLD with the EH staying at a mates place in country NSW and found that the gear box seal to the tail shaft is leaking.
Can anyone tell me either the number or the size of the oil seal for the tail of a crash box 3 speed? Id Like to be able to phone around and find one before I go pull the old one out to get the size then find that I cant get one where I am at the moment. Any help would be apreciated.

I am planning on getting a trans oil cooler for my LX Torana with 308 and trimatic.

Research suggests that there a two types, tube and fin and radiator types. Which is more effective and which brand is best suited for normal driving conditions ie no towing, dragging, racing or burn outs.

I have 71 gts hq coupe that had a 253 in it Iam replacing it with a 500 hp 383 stoker along with a turbo 400. I still would like to keep my stock consol . How much drama is that Im not sure about the selector and how I will go because I believe with heavy cams you have to go manual shift also. Is there also a chance of bumping neutral if you have a standard selector and a manual shift Im very confused if any one could shed some light that would be great.

Am in the middle of bulding a ht. taking out the 3 spd manual and the 186 and putting a 253 with a trimatic in it. i am keeping the standard rear axle in it and putting a 3.08 diff centre in it (currently has 3.55 in it). just wondering do i need to get a new tailshaft if i want to put a 253 with a trimatic in it. I heard that i need to change the diff yoke to the wider v8 yoke. Does this mean i need to change the driveshaft too (is it a thicker shaft or is the output shaft spline different on a trimatic to a 3spd?)
Any help would be appreciated

Just wanted to know if any of you Old Holden experts out there know anything about the GM 4L30 auto trans?

The trimatic is designated by GM as the 3L30 (or TH180) and apparently it was replaced by the 4L30 in the early 90s which is basically a 4 speed version of the trimatic with a lock up torque converter. It was never fitted to any Australian built Holdens but was fitted to the BMW 3 and 5 series, the Isuzu Trooper/Holden Jackaroo and the Isuzu/Holden Rodeo.

G'day all. Been browsing the website for quite some time and really enjoy it, alot of good info and resources. I own a HX station wagon and have recently lost the only set of keys. Now being lazy and what not i never wrote down the serial code on the keys. I checked the manuals and service log and it does not seem to be in there. The problem is if i dont find this code its going to be the difference between $30 and $400 so im quite intent on findin it. What i wanted to know is if any one new if it was possible that you could trace that code from the engine number or chassi code.......if holden had this on record somewhere? If anyone has any knowledge or assistance on this issue that would be great as i really need to get the keys as its my car!

I have installed my recently rebuilt trimatic. As I went from a 6 to V8 (red motor) I had to purchase the transmission which came with no oil filler tube. This was purchased later. I have fitted the tube and I have now read that there is a differance in tubes between red and blue motor trimatics.

How will I be able to tell if I have the correct tube. I do not want to wait until I have oil in it and start her up to see that I have an oil leak from the tube. An explanation and or photos of the differances will be of great help to me.

The question is which is the pipe that flows oil from the trans to radiator and which is the pipe that brings cooler oil back to the trans.

I have a Turbo 700 gearbox to suit turbo pattern 308 or a 5lt

the box was rebuilt by someone in sydney b4 i brought it but i have since lost the recipt

i got it for my 5lt vs commodore but sold the crappodore insted

its a CABLE kick down NOT electronic so its good for the Old girl

I also have a late model VS 304 block (with crank and sump) was pulled down for 383 rebuild but sold the car block was xray'd and crack tested but yeah no car ha ha

ZI am trying to fit a hz four speed floor shift manual gearbox, to my coulmn shift 3 speed HQ belmont 173.

Ive got it the transmission 95% of the way in but the last 15mm or so wont fit any further.

any tips? or procedures that i need to know to get this damn box in!

When connecting the oil cooler pipes at the trans and radiator, do you use any thing like thread tape or thread seal.

I have a 308 with a trimatic. Both have been rebuilt and are yet to run. I have researched on the use of an external trans oil cooler. I still have a reservation about this because I am not sure that I need one for my application of just a street car (no towing or racing). Any I will follow the trend and fit one. Searching on which make and model to use has confused me on making a selection.

Therefore I turn to you for advise on which one you are using and if you are using it in conjunction with the radiator cooling or as a stand along.

I appreciate any feedback.

What different shift control options are dudes running on 4L60-E transmissions?
What ECUs, etc are available that can control the shifts on a carbed, early model Holdens?

my clutch is not engaging. Ive adjusted the adjustment nut as far as it can go (ie extended the rod) and it still will not enage when I Have my foot on the cluth peddle - ie in first gear the car will not roll even when my foot has clutch peddle fully pushed in

any thoughts appreciated

mmmm the 99 number is a late number and the 74 number is early.. so i may suggest it is a 3 speed all syncro box if you can post a pic that would help ..

yes fill till it starts to drip out filler plug on the side use hypoy 80/90w gear oil..

A all syncro box takes 1.7 litres or 3.75 pints.

Has anyone got a 6cylinder VK tail shaft to suit a trimatic to Salisbury diff.
Can swap a trimatic to borgwanner tail shaft if interested.
I can probably get one at the wreckers but i thought i would see if a old Holdener had one to sell or wanted to swap for borgwanner tail shaft.
