hey i was just about to do a rebuild on my four speed and we found afunny wire that we dont no wat its does its place under 3rd and 4th gear and its not a torana four speed its from the wreckers and they thought it mite of been from a commodore

bit of an annoying problem with me trimatic.

this is what it does is this:

say i'm slowing down to turn into a street. then brake. once around corner i put foot down.

the auto then sort of pauses, then makes a high, whizzing noise as it kicks down to 2nd or 1st (not quite sure - probably should be 1st).

it's as though its not properly kicking down when i slow down BEFORE i get to the corner
with a closed throttle.

i'm sure the vacuum hose connecting manifold to vacuum modulator is clear and well sealed.

any ideas anyone?

btw, someone told me the carby solenoid (which i've removed ages ago) has a wire going to
the auto for something. could this be it? manual does show that solenoid goes to auto transmission but doesn't explain it.

I have a question for all those more familiar with the trimatic. I have modded mu WB to have a 202 with Eaton M90 off the side. along with this I had the trimatic done up (only thing I won't do myself, gotta know my limits) also torque converter with 2200 stall.

What is occurring is that I have no drive at all. Initially have reverse but then lose it. any ideas? I was thinking I don't have pressure or am losing it somehow but can't see how.

COuld it be a problem of the torque converter?

Or is it possible that because manifold is under pressure the modulator is not operating? If it was this though I would think I would get first but that's all.

Im hoping someone in Adelaide or surroundings can help me. Im after a chev powerglide casing for my HK as mine is cracked. I would also consider powerglide needing rebuild etc.

The wifes VN has orto trans issues, it will lurch forwards a coupla inches on a cold start... in park. At takeoff it will wind out to 2500-3000rpm in first (light throttle) and goes into 2nd quite harshly, and I think it's getting worse. Any clues as to what might be the problem? I serviced it bout 2 years ago, new filter and oil but no difference. Series 1 3.8, Calais (Aussie model).

Hello, so after owning a few different old holdens in my time (25)haha my latest fixer upper is a HG wagon.
MY question is..
WHat should i do?? stock as a rock 186/trimatic: coul it be gearbox? seems to slip when goin around corners occasionally under accelaration.. also doesnt seem to like reverse very much as it jumps/hops on the slightest incline and under a touch of pedal. very embarrssing out front of cafe with girls laughing.. could it be the box ie reverse clutch or uni's or diff?
Also..

Any one have any deep dish stock rims to suit my wagon? want to go low and fat stance. rat rod styles... white walls mexican blankets.. ye budddyyy...

Lowering?? whats the best bet? new springs? reset old ones? someone mentioned flipping rear leafs? is that doable???

trying to do a gearbox conversion on my HR wagon from auto to a 5 speed manual , however I have hit a snag , I can't get synchros for the old supra box that I have and I have been told another way to go id the T5 falcon gearbox from the EA through ED falcon . These are considerably larger than the holden or toyota box and I was wondering if anyone has made the mod and what floor modificatoins would be needed

Its 3 speed column shift auto

Can some one kick me in the head and let me know what its called trying to get service kit for it

Anyone know where I can get a second hand auto flex plate for a VT commodore? Every wreckers on the south side of Brissy is out. I'm willing to pay around $100 to get this damn thing so I can chuck it in the car.
Also is the VT one exactly the same as the VS one? Cause I have seen one off a VS.. Really didnt think it would be such a scarce part. $403 FROM REPCO NEW!!!

Ive just got my HK 307 powerglide on the road. The problem is the engine and trans run fine when cold but as soon as I get to normal operating temp the trans when in drive seems to rev like its in neutral when I come to stop at a T junction. When I go to accelerate it seems to slip for a few seconds before engaging and taking off. There is no problem with reverse gear just drive and low. I have checked the oil level when hot and it seems ok.
Any advice would be great

I'm struggling with my turbo 400 pan. Just had an expensive th400 complete rebuild. The guys at the automatics shop pulled off my trans pan because it leaked. It was a chrome one off eBay. I got a standard used pan for them and that one unfortunately also leaks. Can anyone recommend a good, no leaks, standard sized th400 pan. Dont want my expensive rebuild to go to waste or trans fluid on the garage floor...

this is a question for the mechanics on this site. Anyone know how hard it is to change a VX SS from auto to manual ? I have a written off manual with all the components, so i dont need advice on whats required just want to know if its a [Naughty Pottyword] fight of a job or not.

currently running m21 behind my 350 in a hq ute, trans is in need of attention, does a tremec 6 speed bolt up to the 350 or would a 4spd muncie be the way to go?

what is a detent when talking about a Aussie 4 spd and refitting a shifter?
I have to put the levers in detent and put a dowel through them then tighten up the linkages.

The EH needs a new clutch. Red 202 with a celica 5 speed steel box.

All of the clutch kits I've found on eBay advertise pull/cable type clutch kits, where mine is hydraulic.

My first question, besides a clutch fork, what other things do I need to change to convert I to a cable clutch (I prefer the cable). And what are the parts availability?

Second question, if I stick with the hydraulic, where can I get a good assembly at a reasonable price? Preferably in or around the Perth area, but I'm willing to pay postage for a good one from interstate.

I'm planning on machining the flywheel, what about the spigot bearing?

Any help, as always, would be awesome.

Hi every one, I am fitting a turbo400 gearbox to my hj 308 van. Does it need to have an oil filter in the line between the transmission and the oil cooler or is the filter that is inside the box sufficient thanks.
