jacking engine

My sump is leaking at the front and I'm keen on using the method on here to remove the sump while the engine is still in the car. Do I just chock the two front engine mounts? Where on the engine should I place the jack?

And here's me thinking I knew everything there is to know about jacking...

ls1 temperature problem

Just finished doing a lifter change on my VU ute running an LS1 motor. Got it all back togther and it started and runs well.

Engine light goes of wen I start it and comes back on after about 15 seconds.

Comes up to temperature ok then after about 10 mins the temp goes through the roof. Top hose is very hot. Bottom hose luke warm.

I'm hoping its maybe just a thermostat problem. I fitted a new temperature sensor so That's not an issue.

If anyone has any ideas about either of these problems I would really appreciate the input.

34 ADM Weber on 202 blue/black motor

Hi everone , just fitted a 34 adm weber to our 202 black motor , variajet was cactus was great at first now crap , anyways looking at some pics i feel i may have put on reverse to what it should be ,thinking now previous owner may have too so any pictures actually as many as from all angles will be helpful

253 with Holley 650 - What jet size?

Hi All,

I have a 253 in a HZ Pano with a Holley 650 on it, I know the 650 is overkill for a 253 but it's gonna stay, so my question is, what's the best jet size for it?

yella terra head

I have been driving for 2 years and have found that i have water beeding on the side of the head gasket, i have gone over all my paper work and cant find if the tension is the same as a cast Black 202? Can you help please?

Date correct 202

Hi. My mate has just bought an LH SLR. Its got 308 in it now. Originally 202. What would a date correct Torana 202 engine number commence with. Looking for a period correct engine or block to tuck away just for originality sakes.

186S for HR

I bought Henry the HR a present on the weekend for his
50th birthday year. A replacement 186S engine from 1968.

Henry's 186S engine has been bored out to 0.06 and I get
conflicting advice on whether 186S engines can be bored
out to 0.08 inch or if its too close to water jackets?

Any comments on if you have to sleeve a red engine after
it gets past 0.06 inch oversize?

G'Day mates from the states

Been a while thank goodness this site is back I really missed it. So it's been a few months since I sold my HQ tonner to Patrick who lives in Southern California. I also traded in my 04 GTO monaro for a new challenger hellcat I do love it but I need another Holden soon. Here is a pic of the 707 HP supercharged HEMI hellcat showing her numbers hard to get high horse on the street but the torque is instant about 650 foot pounds hope all is we'll down under it's end if winter for you guys now right

After market cheap Alloy radiators

Those after market fancy pants fully welded Alloy radiators are not worth wasting your money on unless you buy an Aussie cooler type and spend the extra dollars. The cheap version leaks at the top part of the core and not repairable because you have to cut the thing up to re-weld it and then re-weld the whole thing back together. I prefer original copper type.

oil probs

hi all after some info I just put a set of lifters in primed them first cleaned pushrods , now I have good oil flow to most rocker arms but 4 are just a weap where pushrods meet rocker arm hole , I refitted old lifters (after cleaning them first ) and 2 worked lots of oil and 2 just a weap , I switched known working lifter around but it was inconsistand didn't make sence .aside from lifters and push rod , next is oil pump I have 20 oil pressure at idle and increases with revs , some of the lifters those at very front and rear of head have heaps of oil pumping ouy but others not so much.

coolant

hello recommendation for coolant for the eh went to local car shop there are many brands claiming from two years to seven with different specs any suggestions would be good back in 1966 very simple between bars leak and soluble oil thanks warren

308 motor identification

Hi guys, just bought 308 motor with casting stamp L 9 1 and engine number 11QT89524. I Know it was cast 9th Nov, 1971. Need to know more about engine number.

Electronic ignition for 186 HG

Hi there, looking to convert points to electronic ignition. Think about a Pertronix Ignitor kit or a second hand unit from VK Blue motor Commodore. Any thoughts suggestions would be great. Swap is for a HG with a stock 186. Cheers.

Manifold sealant

I'm putting the EH back together, eventually.
The Lynx manifold has been machined again, properly this time. It had over 1mm clearance under the straight edge at the back carby runner when I took it in.
I'm going to seal the manifolds so I'm doubly sure the b*stard won't leak again.
I was told get to the Permatech Ultra Copper sealant by a local mechanic. I went in to Bursons and the bloke their said the Permatech Copper would be the best.
