Torana 308 block

I would like some opinions regarding a Torana 308 block I'm thinking of selling.
It has is a legit genuine HT prefix engine number [not someone's re-stamp] it's date code is 18 H 7, to me this means its a 18 August 1977 casting, so LX SLR 5000 or SS 5L and the good thing is it's a standard bore. Both heads have a cast number of 2812174, they appear to have larger than standard valves. So what's your thought's please ?
Thanks Mal

V6 TT development

Hi all, not old Holden but here goes. Does anyone know much about the V6 twin Turbo for next years Commodore Supercar? I read somewhere that the engine is being developed in the states and they have been a bit of a hand grenade. Does anyone have a link and or any info?
Thanks, mal

Vn304 into Hq

Hey jim here . I'm putting already built 304 vn into my Hq one tonner. I currently run a 253 trimatic pattern with a 350 Holley and a celica 5 speed . The vn 304 turbo pattern has been totally rebuilt with balancing porting flat tops Roller rockers head work and ground. I'm putting a carbie on top.. I'd like to put a 650 hp .. it's a daily drive and I would like it not to stop at every fuel station .. is their much difference between a double pumper and a vac sec 650 in fuel economy.. do I need thermo fans ?? How efficient is getting new pace makers coated for heat transfer..

Rattle developed today in the Grey under load

After a nice day out for a short cruise, and plodding around 50mph in the EK, a slight incline in the road and then a rattle, raised its head under load, not sounding like a normal bearing knock. Under any acceleration whatsoever, the rattle appears, at idle you can barely notice it. I certainly noticed that it was also a bit fluttery under any load, doesn't sound good. I'll get it checked out tomorrow, just a little disappointing as I've only had the ute for a week, and it was getting along pretty well, I had it booked to get it in this week for a solid service and tune and check over.

Flat spots and stalling around corners. New weber 38 DGMS

Hi all

Have just installed a new weber 38 DGMS in the premmie. Goes a lot better than the tired old Rochester that was in there previously. Except around corners where it seems to be starved of fuel and occasionally cuts out. Problem partially relieved by closing the choke. Is it the idle mixture? Idle speed sounds about right. Thanks in advance!

Fuel Octane Rating for Stock Blue 308?

I've got a stock blue 308 in a WB - 9.2:1 compression ratio iaw published literature - I've been using PULP 98 Octane in it - expensive...do I need to do this ? - I just put around - it's not a performance car...I've had difficulty finding a reliable source of info re what to use - will 91 or 95 Octane be ok for a 9.2 engine - what about E10? What are others using with acceptable results and can anyone point to a good reference source?

New to old cars: should i go all gas

Hi All

I need to seek some advise.
I have just acquired a 1984 WB panelvan, mostly in original condition, 3.3L blue motor, 3 speed Auto on column.
Just picked van up after first road worthy attempt. Van is dual fuel, gas and petrol. Runs rough on petrol, good on gas.
Has almost all the emission fitting missing.
Speaking with mechanic, I asked is it better to go Gas only, no need for emission fittings. Would need to remove all petrol tank, pump, hoses etc.

Crow cam shaft 4665

Hi guys n girls. I'm doing some research regarding dialing in a cam. The Crow info is all based on 1.65 rockers and I have 1.6 so I'm not sure if that changes anything. I've sent a question to the Q&A section of Crow but haven't heard back. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks Mal

Factory 304 rocker arm ratio

Hi, just trying to find out what would be the best roller rocker arm ratio would be best for a mild 304. I guess I need to start with finding out what the standard rocker ratio is first, so if someone could guide me in the correct direction to find out I can then decide what to go for. having said all that 1.65 seems the most common for aftermarket rockers, any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks Mal
