Missing bolt EJ Holden

Anyone know if this is important (see pucture), I am thinking maybe its just a spare hole because a non standard starter motor is being used on the car, you can't get a bolt through from starter motor side anyway.Looks like it would be tricky to get one from the other side too as it is right in the corner of tunnel and hyraulic fluid lines in the way.

flat spot when accelarating

can someone please email me the process of elimination, in detecting which part causes flat spot when accelerating, causing my HR 186 motor to stall, roccoavati@hotmail.com cheers rocco

i want to go electronic & get a pertronic distributor off trade me as its from kings country and would still like to run original type coil as to keep it original look so what type of coil can i get { original type round one } as not to go square one , also are these distributors good as they just bolt in straight in

6 cyl head swap

Hi Everybody. I have a 1978 HZ 1 tonner with e 3.3 blue motor and the head needs to be changed. I have a recon black head.Is this a suitable conversion. Any advice would appreciated.

Possible seized 202 red engine

How can I hand crank a 202 red engine in a 1977 Holden HX one tonne ute?
I have tried to start it, lights are on but nobody is home!

Red or blue 202 - which one do I rebuild?

Hi guys, so I purchased an HQ about 3 years ago and it currently has a Smokey and tapping blue 3.3 motor. The original red 202 come with the car and I’d like to rebuild one of the two so that I have a reliable package for family road trips. The car is all original with the blue motor the only addition. My heart is telling me to rebuild the red motor so that the car is back to original, but what am I missing out on if I don’t use the blue motor?

Surging 186 whilst at a steady speed

Hi, my 186 has just got a surging problem when at a constant speed, if i take my foot of the gas its fine, if i put my foot flat down at take off its fine, slow pickup also surges. It seems to idle fine. Recently replaced battery and its just been on an out of town run 4+hours of open road driving. Any suggestions on what this most likely could be? Thx

173 stumble

Giday guys I've been trying to get my old 173 running abit smoother off idle. I have noticed that there is no vacuum advance. I pulled the hose off the dizzy while engine running and there is no vacuum at the dizzy. The port is not blocked either as I can blow back through line to carby. Any ideas?

202 black motor build

Hello all i need help i want to build a 202 black motor efi. I am doing away with the distributor and going crank angle sensor ,getting a stage three yella terra alloy head compleat roller rocker package. I getting a set of spool conrods and forged flat top pistons. I have a manafold from aussie speed shop for eaton 90 blower and fuel injection. I want to achieve over 500 hp at wheels. Any help to add this with more knowledge to get me over that mark.

Replacement Ignition Coil

Hi all. In the middle of replacing the ignition coil in my '75 HJ Premier. Engine is the red 202.
The ignition coil in there at the moment is an old Lucas with little to no other markings on it. What would be the best replacement for this? I've been looking at the Bosch SU12R which seems to be the best bet but just wanted to double check.

186 crankshaft timing gear.

I have to replace the cam gear on a 186. I bought a new set of metal gears to replace the fibre one and I'm wondering how important it is to change the crank gear. It doesn't appear to have much wear and it's stuck on there pretty well so I'm tempted to leave it rather than open a can of worms in trying to get it off. My concern is that I've heard it will whine if I don't swap it, however I've heard other people say not to bother because the new gears will whine anyway. Anyone have experience with this? Thoughts?

whats best oil to use for first start up for a freshed up engine? also a how to pre lube/ get up pre start oil pressure?

350 holley fuel rich running issue

for some reason my holley 350 is leaking fuel in the vacuum chamber behind the power valve making my car run really rich, but still pretty good.
I have a lumpy cam in it, with 107 lobe sep and 287 #50 duration with 430 valve lift.
the vacuum is at 13inch which is normal for a hot motor to have low vacuum like that, so ive got currently a 7.5 power valve.
at first I thought the power valve that was in it was faulty so I replaced it.

202 Blue extractor leak.

Hi guys, I’ve been batltling a extractor leak on my 202, I’ve tried everything to fix it but can’t get it to seal, the manifold and extractors don’t sit flush so the previous owners cut the outer studs etc to get it right although now I can’t figure what goes where.

It’s running a Redline Torker 2 manifold and a unbranded set of exrtractors.

Changing engine mounts ej holden

Thinking of changing my engine mounts on my ej, have changed the front before but never the rear.

Can I change the rear ones easy enough without needing to lift the engine.I haven't got equipment for lifting it, but was wondering if it is possible to jack it up from underneath and use blocks of wood to protect the sump.

Anyone know the process?
