HT POWER STEERING RAM

G’day all,

I was told some years back that the Ram used in HK to HG Power Steer is interchangeable with the C2 Corvette Ram of the same era. Does anyone know if that is that correct? If not, what other options are there?

Cheers

Front wheel bearing seal?

I've just replaced front wheel bearings on my WB. There was a slight amount of play in the bearings on one wheel and while the bearings looked okay when I pulled them out (no discolouration or scoring, pitting etc) I thought it'd be cheap insurance to just replace them. Even with the new bearings, it has exactly the same amount of play... if I tighten the castellated nut to the next opening for the split pin, it just seems too tight, as in the torque applied on the nut increases a fair bit. I'm familiar with trailer bearings and the amount of play is acceptable but is it on a WB?

WB Caprice Rear Ride Height

was wondering if someone could tell me what the standard rear ride height should be with std 15 inch rims and 225/60 tyres and where you have taken measurement from eg ground to lower edge of chrome trim of wheel arch...Mine is sitting quite high, the service records show it was fitted with some h/d pedder springs - the part number corresponds to std height but the old fella I bought the car off said he had higher springs fitted for towing his van and they look like it to me.

WANTED: HR Steering box & column

G'day all,
It's been quite some time since I've been on here, the HR has barely changed though.

Does anyone have a HR steering box and column?
SE QLD (I'm in Beenleigh)

Preferably complete and assembled - doesn't need to look pretty.
Needs to have no cracks in the outer steering column housing.
Mine's split pretty bad across the gear change hole near the steering box.

Cheers
Dec

HR Sedan - 13 x 7 rims

Hi everyone,
Just joined the group and will probably pester you all from time to time for some advice / tips . So thanks in advance .
I just got myself a HR sedan late last year and would love to keep the original look going . I used to run widened rims on a HR ute I had years ago . Pretty sure I had 6's on the front with 205/60's and 7's on the back with 225 / 60's . I would like to do the same with the sedan except run the same width all round so I can rotate tyres .

Power steering HJ sedan

Hey Guys ,

I have fitted a power steering box to my HJ sedan.
Im pretty sure i took the box off a WB i wrecked years ago.
It has 4 mounting bolts where the old Manual box from the HJ had 3.
Do you think its necessary to drill the chassis to mount the 4th bolt or it will be ok just to run the original 3 ?
Years ago when i changed the one over in the 1 tonner i think it only had 3 .

Cheers Quent...

HX suspension sag

HX premier. One inch low Kings all round. From rear looks sagged on left side at rear approx 10 mm and front is 12mm. Rear springs are within 1mm when removed as is fronts. Have put a 6mm spacer in front and still same . Have also swapped the left front to other side and still same sag on left. Anyone got any thoughts. Annoys the hell as is very noticeable from behind. Have thought about putting a 50 kg bag of sand in the boot on RHS to compensate.
Cheers
Dave

Steering column alignment

I have rebuilt the steering box (using a eare spares rebuild kit) and have taken the column out to clean and inspect (it was making a slight grinding sound) so it got cleaned and lubed. I put it back in but the column no longer sits straight in the housing. It is off to one side and rubs against my gear selectors (three on the tree) and when the steering wheel is it certain positions i cant change gear because of the rubbing. I have tried adjusting the mounting plate but it doesnt seem to move much. Is there something im missing or not doing? Any help would be great.

HJ HOLDEN ONE TONNER

Currently my HJ HOLDEN ONE TONNER is on airbags both front and rear. It is also on lowered springs and lowering blocks. The ride is very hard and I am wondering if I change the set up to four link suspension would that soften the ride??

LC-LJ Steering Problem

Anyone that drives an LC or LJ torana - check
old nolethane steering shaft joiner at the
back of the engine bay.

One of my mates had me help him change out a
radiator and I noticed the old red nolethane
had cracked, and as I pointed at it saying
WTF I then pushed it with my finger and it
fell apart into ..... 3 parts.

We don't know where the other part of it went
so everyone please check it out.

King springs uneven hight

I installed a set of lowered king springs in my hj wagon a few years back along with all new bushes ball joints etc.
All gaurd hights are within a few mls of each other but it looks lower in the rear, do i go super lower spring in the front or standard springs in the rear to level out the look.
Ideas or help is much appreciated.
Thanks Andrew

More Power Steer Pic`s For T

g`day T,have got some pic`s together for the assembly of the control valve for HK-T-G power steering.

1st pic- i found the easiest way to assemble the control valve is to place the drag link into a vice.the ball stud & valve shaft rod have already been installed.

2nd pic- the small washer from the rebuild kit goes on 1st.

3rd pic- next is the annulus spacer, these are not supplied in any kits.

4th pic- next to go on is the large washer from the kit.

now we start with the internals of the control valve itself.

5th pic- is of the annulus seal
