Has anyone heard of a Vacationer 2 HJ ?

I recently picked up a HJ Vacationer 2 in excellent condition for $300, I owner. It has a goldish colored roof and port wine looking color body (paint is very faded). Does anyone know any information on this particular model ? I have been a Holden man for quites some time and own a HQ but I never heard of this model before. Also where would be the best place to find original color options for early holdens ? I was told Dulux but scouring the net has found jack [Naughty Pottyword]. Any feedback would be great.

Cheers.

ex cop car??

lucky enough to have scored a '69 HT Premier with original 307 Chev and 2spd Powerglide.... she's a beauty!! Firstly, does anyone know how i can find out how many were made - I think it's fairly rare (as HT saw 308 come in and 307 phased out). Secondly, the engine number includes a "P" and I've been told this has something to do with police - anyone know if this model was used by the cops?

Fuel figures

I see a lot of people ask about fuel figures on old V8's, so I thought I'd provide some info for those interested.

I happen to watch my fuel usage pretty regularly, so I can tell you that my 4.2 VC wagon slurps around 250-260Km/tank - which I believe works out to around 20litres/100Kms in todays terms - not exactly a fuel-miser.

Mind you, my old company car (VX 3.8) used to get me around 320Km in the city. It used to get better on the highway, but doesn't everyone?

Interesting, considering both have the same size fuel tank, and the VX has twenty years on the VC! Both were doing short trips around the city, between 5 and 45 minute hops.

Paint codes etc

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering, is there an easy reference site that lists paint codes and general code information (trim etc) for the VK Commodore? I just bought an '85 SL model and was curious to check what the codes denote (eg Model VK8VL19-113, Paint 1F 086D, Trim 3054-64X, Axle GU5). Is there anywhere apart from a Holden dealer that I can find this info?

Thanks in advance!

Best wishes,

Cathy

"Dodgy Bros." backyard Engineering........

Hey guys, wev'e all heard or seen some pretty dangerous and unsafe practices carried out under the banner of Midnite Auto Eng in old cars ( never by Holden owners!)
Lets hear your favorite story and maybe some of the younger streeters can pick up some lessons learned in here.
I'll start of by TELLING OF the car I saw at a car show (streeter FC) where the owner had fitted a SBC engine and to make it fit due to a clearance problem with the chev OEM fuelpump which is down on the front RHS of the block .....HE CUT OUT A 100MM SECTION (3/4 OF THE WAY THROUGH IT)OF THE CHASSIS RAIL TO SHOEHORN THE SUCKER IN AND CLEAR THE FUEL PUMP!! Didnt even bother to fill in the wall sections of his handy work.

Security

Some SOB broke into my tonner today and stole my CD player! Adding to the misery is that they destroyed the dash trying to get it out! It's probably asking the impossible, but has anyone tried a decent locking system that works? How do you stop these bastards breaking into the pride and joy?
Darren.

Power to weight ratio

Hey everyone. Basicly I don't know much about cars except that I'm looking to buy a 1984 Statesman WB Deville Series II. Because I'm still on my P's I can't drive a car with a power to weight ratio above 125 kilowatts per ton (tonne?). The car is 1.6 ton/tonne(??). I know the car passes the capacity to weight ratio so that's fine but I'm struggling to find out the kilowatt to weight ratio or just the plain kilowatt output to work out the ratio. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. - Jules

Commodore wheels

Can anyone inform me better as to weather any commodore rims will fit onto a HZ? I have been told that VB to VY are all the same, but will they fit on a HZ? I thought that VB to VL were all the same but not sure of the others. I have a HZ and need new rubber and was wondering if I could possibly use some nice alloys from a HSV or something.
Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

EK ---Front End--Discs--186--info needed

Hi all. Great work on a great site - best info round. I'm after a fairly accurate costing involved for the usual mods to an EK sedan.
Currently running original 138 grey, with a trimatic auto.I want to have a disc brake front end (HR) and 186 or small block ie 327 etc v8.Just wondering what the total costs (including engine, parts, labour etc) would be to have the work done for me, to Victorian standards, including engineers certificates etc. to pass rego.anyone who's done these mods, I'd be interested in hearing from you.
Cheers,
