This isn't for an old Holden, but for my Jackaroo. I've got to get some new tyres and I have found a few good sets going cheap but they are 255 70 R16 and 265 70 R16 instead of what's currently on it which are 245 70 R16s.

My question is what are the problems I face if I put the 265s on? would this be allowed (legal??) and how would it effect my car. I'd love to put a new set of rubber on but don't have the coinage so I'm looking at getting a decent set of second hand tyres.

Any help would be great.

After I have fixed up and painted both my clutch mechanism (m20 push-type) and extractors (unknown tri-Y's), I found that you cannot have both installed at the same time...

I was making a real progress, everything was coming together nicely but then... tap... eh? ...what this? tap tap ...what if I... tap... bugger...

It's a m20 push type clutch with a bulky lever system that mounts on the side of the bellhousing, and where the stationary part of clutch cable is held it overlaps the extractors

Should I change the clutch mechanism or should I change/modify the extractors?

If I changed to a pull-type clutch would I have the same problem? Would I have to change the bellhousing? I haven't seen one for a while and can't remember how the cable is mounted.

hi all i was wondering if someone can suggest a good and fair mech engineer in the newcastle area , to get cert for disc brake front end , buckets seats 4 speed ect for an old EH HOLDEN.have heard some horror stories eg crash test . also just to confirm removel of floor crossmember for 4 speed box , i was told i need to replace xmember with a plate/rib that is 50mm wide and 5mm thick is this right , that has to be stitch welded every inch and fully welded where it mates with floor crossmember, is this correct.any help would be greatly app . if u live in newy and have done this mod any chance of havin a look or a pic.

Hi guys,I just had a set of VN style heads modified for my stroked 383 in the SLR 5000. After 9 months of rebuilding everthing else I got a bit excited and threw them on with the manifolds etc and put the motor in.Time came to adjust the solid lifters and I realised, I had not filed away in the brain, which was the inlet / exhaust valves.I have looked at the manifold and extractors and presume the No 1 cylinder front is a exhaust vale and so on,and No 2 front is a inlet etc.I am happy to be made look dumb,just want it to be right.

hey i was just about to do a rebuild on my four speed and we found afunny wire that we dont no wat its does its place under 3rd and 4th gear and its not a torana four speed its from the wreckers and they thought it mite of been from a commodore

got some LED globes to fit in indicators , fitted rears and all good , really perked them up , when I put the fronts in both front & rear glow very dimly ( same both sides ) and of course don't flash. Anyone know what I need ? alternate flasher can maybe ?.

is a red 3.3 cam the same as a black 3.3 cam. As that is what i have done with ours but can not get it running properly.

I am in the process of thinking of what should be the power plant of my Torana. there are so many options these days. just wanted to see what's out there and whats been done and what others have pondered about doing.

Gaday, I'm looking at putting my 202 on straight gas, if it's going to be beneficial. It currently is dual fuel, I was told when I brought the car that the head was already set up for LPG and ULP. Which I'm thinking is true judging how it's still running so well as I run gas all the time except the first and last km of each day. This is my everyday car. What I'm thinking of doing. Vk manifold and throttle body. Got a quote from ultimate gas conversions currum downs for 400 bux for a mixer to suit the vk gear, instillation and tune up. This would not be gas injection but just going straight through the vk manifold. Has anyone done this before? Is it going to be much different then the standard varijet and manifold? If anyone has a info or better ideas I would be keen on hearing them. Cheers

I have just cc'd my cylinder heads and they aren't the size advertised (58cc instead of 64cc). My static compression is now 11.3:1 and dynamic is 8.6:1. Will 98 octane be good enough? Can anyone give me some input or should I just get chambers taken out to 64cc.
Note: I have imported these heads from the states and it'd be a sh@t fight to return them.
Another note: I have contacted seller and waiting for a reply.

I have determined that the steering arms I had in a previous post are modified HQ.
The next question is does anyone know which tie rod end will fit the smaller HQ taper and retain the HR style male thread?
