i was wondering if i could lower the back of my ht ute with 235s on 14's and not have it hit my guards? if not how low?

Tub to tray

Hi all. I've got an old WB ute which I'm seriously considering cutting the tub off of and whacking a tray on the back. This is mainly due to all the rust being in the tub. It's been hit in the back corner too and had a bodge repair job. I'm not interested in turning it into a tonner as such. Just want to put the tray on the back. I know some guys on here would have done something similar, so I'm after some pointers. Thanks in advance. Tonners aren't cheap here in tassie so selling the ute and buying a tonner isn't really an option for me

speedi sleeve for salibury pinion seal

is there a speedi sleeve on the marked for a holden salibury pinion seal if so where to get one and dose it need a matching seal for the sleeve

New gearbox old engine

Hello sages of wisdom on old Holden. Does anyone know if there are Holden 4spd boxes that would bolt up to a 138 grey motor with minimal motification. I currently have a grey powered EJ with the stock 3 in the tree. that is due for a rebuild and want to go to a 4 on the floor and keep the grey motor.
Any info would be great.

i am restoring a wb panelvan and will be putting a th700 trans in it i need some info on what colour seedo drive i need to suit 15" rims and 3.55 diff ratio can anyone help with any info

T5 INTO HQ-HZ WHOS DONE IT !!!!!

OK so who out thers done this conversion im put t5 behind a 304 stroker engine in a hx and i want all info of the problems and tip from people that have done it im sure these alot
so ive herad it will sit to far back and i ether need a chev truck converion for shifter ? or cut floor hole in floor brace also regarding speedo anyone know what Manuel cable and speedo gears and or colour to use to get speedo to read true is the any factor xmember mount that will work with t5 any info aprecated

T5 behind 308

It's probably been posted before but I couldn't find a solid answer I want to put a t5 box behind a mild 308 in a tonner what box am I better off running? It's an Aussie pattern if that makes any difference
Ford 6cly t5 with bell housing adapter?
Commodore v8 with ford rear housing?
Commodore v6 with adapters?

And what else do I need as far as tailshaft clutch and speedo
Do I run cable clutch or hydraulic?

253 into an EH?

Hi guys, Looking at doing up an EH ute, and I allready have a 253 I rebuilt in Year 12 in 1990. never been started! So Id like to use it.
My questions are 1, Is it legal in NSW and Is there a conversion Kit available to make it simple? Id also be puting a disc front end in, HR I guess.
And advice would be appreciated

seatbelt positions on an EH Sedan

Hey Cats

I am looking to get a blue slip in NSW for a QLD car.
Because of the additions I need to have all seats with seatbelts. Does anyone have recommendations or a picture on where they mounted their inertia seat belts?

My front ones are mounted on the pillar - but these will need to be changed apparently because they are bolted thru the pillar

Swapping my tonner chassis for a sedan?

I understand the sedan chassis for the HQ etc are a bit longer than the tonner versions. Also a few mounts need to be made/transplanted.. is that correct? I'm wondering if changing the complete chassis to something with IRS and non-leaf rear might improve my handling in a street car rather than converting to a 4 link rear.

Any thoughts? I need to make the decision soon though as I'm taking the cab off today lol.

is it worth it to hot up a 253?

I know you bore it out, bigger valves, lumpy cam all that sort of thing, but can you, like a 308 to 355, stroke it a bit? is it worth it to hot up a 253? AND if I did, will the motor be small enough to run a small 8 bolt salisbury diff a trimatic and a standard brake booster ... Im just throwing it out there I wouldnt mind an 8 in my commy but I if I put an 308 worked I think ill have to change too many things to accomodate the extra horses. if someone could enlighten me on the old 253 capabilities and incapabilities and what I need to change from 6cyl running gear.

crossmembers

hi people.
I am after advice on crossmember for toyota 5 speed into HG
HG ute, 186, aussie 4sp.
I have a steel toyota 5 spd (W50? are they called ?)
Is a standard cross member easily modified for this?
I may have seen adds for an auto cross member and one already to suit a supra 5 speed.
Any of those likely to be a better bet bet than the others?
whats the chances the supra one will work for my steel box?

GOING TO GO MANUAL HZ CLUTCH INFO HELP !!

HI All im putting a t5 manual gear box in my hz gts its was a auto so no clutch pedal yet just want to here from people that have done this conversion will cable be ok ? or do i have to go hydrolic ? looked on line for a pedal and see the HQ had a contraption called a rat trap is a hz set the same as hq ? if hz is a cable set up will cable work on a t5 any good info will be appreciated

IFS for Holden HR

Thinking about bringing my HR into the 20th Century. I have been looking at all the different bolt in IFS front ends. They ain't cheap! Has anyone done this upgrade and who's unit did you use? The web sites just show pics & of course theirs is the best. Plus racks mounted front or back. Does anyone have any real experience to save me from the pitfalls. Cheers in advance.

UC sunbird conversion Question

Hello all I am thinking about getting a 78 UC sunbird off the father inlaw which is a one owner and is perfect inside and out. It has the 4 cylinder model with the starfire motor.
My question is to do a v8 convention on it I know I will need to change box and diff and upgrage the brakes and suspension. do I need to change the K frame or is there convertion adaptors that will work. And anything else I should know . Thanks
