Door material

G'day All,
Just wondering what the best adhesive is to use to stick the material back onto the inside of a door, as in behind the door trim, the material covering the window and door lock mechanism holes.
I hope that makes some sense.
Cheers
Al

WB combo switch removal

Tried asking old mate Google and only thing that I found half useful was the Holdenpedia page. It didn't really explain the problem I'm having getting the old switch out.
I've taken the s/wheel off, removed and put to the side the indicator switching mechanism and unscrewed the combo switch at the stalk end and unplugged at the other end.
Hooked a wire around the plug so it's easier to get the new switch plug though the column but the plug is catching in the column somewhere. I tried moving the column shifter around to see if that helps -- not really is the answer.

Fuel spitting from 202 carter indicator hole

Hey guys, as above, I've just noticed some fuel spitting from the indicator hole on the rear side of the carter pump.
Just for some reassurance, would that be a fingered diaphragm? I've had a look at the handy holdenpaedia page already :)

And if it is, anybody know of a decent shop in Perth that would carry that sort of stock?

Cheers for any advice,
Rhys

cooling system clean

Hi all;

Would someone be able to advise the best way to clean a Grey Motor cooling system?

The water in mine is muddy brown with a bit of sediment floating in it and I'm about to give it a flush. I've heard that it's best to steer clear of the cleaners as they're a bit savage.

Also, could anyone recommend a good additive for the water?

Any advice much appreciated - thanks in advance!

Tony EJ

HK Kingswood horn

Hi all. For a while my 68 HK Kingswood has had an intermittent horn so today I had a good look. At present when I press the horn bar I just get a faint croaking sound. Removed the horn wires to the horn and ran a jumper wire straight to the battery. Horn goes perfect. Removed the steering wheel and simulated the horn press by running a jumper wire from the horn switch to the steering shaft. This delivered the faint croaking sound and quite a spark. Ran a jumper wire from the horn switch to a good ground and horn works perfect every time.

HR Drum brakes

After opinion on rear drum brakes. Gave them a look over and noticed that the auto tensioners on both sides are not working. Is there a whole replacement kit that anyone can recommend to replace whole drum assembly and shoes? I have discs on the front but want to replace rears for safety as hand brake is on limit as far as tensioning them up.

Thanks in advance

First Gear Judder on Departure

===First Gear Judder on Departure:=== When driving off from a standing start a Trimatic can judder.
The judder is caused by having the wrong spring in the band servo. A lighter or stronger spring solves the problem.

So how do I know if it needs a lighter or stronger spring?
thanks
Grant

350 holley carby issue, car goes to stall when i screw the idle set screw to idle higher

350 holley carby issue, car goes to stall when i screw the idle set screw to idle higher, which I want to do because the engine is close on dying in gear at idle. any ideas why it would doo that? i backed off the float in case it was flooding, no change, i raised the float a fract in case it was too lean, no change, I used the mixture screws, it ran a bit smoother but as soon as i tried to raise the idle, it almost died.
thanks in advance for any help

HQ Lifter Rattle Repair

Lifter Rattle Repair:

Worked with a friend over the weekend to fix the lifter rattle in the non-adjustable valve gear in this engine.

1. Removed the Rocker Cover, started the Engine and used a length of plastic hose to listen at each valve stem for the noise.

2. Found the No 2 Inlet Valve had the problem.

3. Confirmed by levering out the lash with a screwdriver between the valve spring and the Rocker Arm. The rattle stopped with each levering and returned when the screwdriver was removed.

4. Shut down the engine and rotated the crank until the troubled valve was wide open. The valve spring held the lifter plunger compressed as we removed the retainer clip from the
lifter.

5. Removed the No 2 spark plug to make crank rotation easier.

HK HT HG front cross member pic for HT Dave

Here is a scan of the front x-member and its mounts taken from the GMH shop manual for the HK.

Identical for HT HG except for rubber vs metal control arm bushes.

HT/G Front Cross member pics

Hi guys,

Does anyone have any photos or exploded diagram of how the front cross member bolts onto the subframe?

I pulled mine apart over 5 years ago, and am finally putting back together with new rubbers, but want to make sure everything is in the correct order.

Cheers
Dave

ultima schocks

Have Ultima HD shocks #400350L.
Shaft of shock is too broad to fit through opening in lower control arm.
Details for fitment on Ultima page suggests whole may need to be widened for fitment.
Would this be fine to die grind a few mil out of the arm?
