I would love to here from somebody who could solve or help solve the following problem.
main problem is the motor surges and idles rough, constantly stopping, if held at high idle at lights will idle just as rough, and when heavy excelleration applied has big sags towards the the middle to high end but does clear and give good power problem is 50/50 at all times.
cold or hot.
what i have done to date to eliminate possibilities.

Hi guys, has anyone got any idea where I can get rubber seals for the doors, windows and light fittings on my HJ ute, they are all well and truly shagged out.

Recently bought at hq ute, and it's having trouble holding idle when cold, there's also alot of moisture coming out the tail pipe.
We heard about the seal on the petrol cap on some cars causing water to get in the tank and cause this exact problem.... Other solutions, air filter? or carby problem...
Any ideas before we pull it apart entirely?

hi,,
put my varajet back on my 202 blue motor, but its all %&^#*# it revs its self and goes mad! what could this be, like it revs itself and cant hold a good idle! i dunno what it is, the accelerator pedal is pretty stiff too, but the carby isnt ceased or anything, i dont have a clue!

just put a red motor inlet manifold and carby on my 202 blue motor, now its idleing real fast, when i put it in gear it spins the wheels and then dies, what do i have to adjust and where is it?? its a stromberg carby, 1 barrel

I have a vibration in my ute that is getting worse, you can see the t-bar, steering wheel and mirrors all shaking as soon as you take off. I can't go over 80kmph without it getting really bad, it seems to be affected by road speed, not engine revs. I just changed the front and rear uni joints today and I've changed the rear gearbox mount, but it made no difference.

My cars all over the road at the moment and i know that my steering box is on the way out and was wondering if that would be the problem? if so can i tighten it up or something? Or could i get a power steering unit to fit, if so were would i find one or would a unit of another car be o.k.

Still got my pinging problem, i know its the timing, but me and a mate found when we rev it a burst of smoke comes from near the carby or the manifold?? Is this a vaccum leak?? what could this be??

HI all,
Found oil out of the holes in the top of the tappet cover 2day, ive got a blue 202, so i drained some oil out about 1 litre, started her up went for a run, came back and theres oil everywhere again! what would be the cause of this?

Hi all - am in need of some help. I have a bit of an oil leak, spots left on the ground after parking, there's also a more creamy 'liquid' in both consistency and colour. What could this be?. lubrication of some sort(????). The car also smokes a fair bit from under the hood, very noticeable at night when the headlights are on. Could this be a result of the leaking onto the trans or something??? I havent had the car for long, so am still getting used to its characteristics. Are these leaks etc. just part and parcel???????

Hi all
Having a few problems with my cooling system at the moment. Radiator is overflowing every so often, i notice it when i've stopped and i get out. Its not a major overflow, but its happened about 3 times now. A while back i topped it up, it needed a little under a litre of coolant to bring it back to full. After that, i had another overflow, and when it had cooled down i checked the water level, which was now much higher than usual, hence the overflow. I checked it this morning and it's back to being a little low. i have noticed when it's low that there are a few bits of scale here and there. i figure they could be blocking up passages and maybe causing the problem.

not having a good week with the vl, first battery dies, replaced the battery. now the ignition barrel has shat itself, so its touch and go to get the car started. the other day while driving along, 2 spark plugs blew themselves off. Wat could of caused that??????
now the car sounds like a choking vaccuum cleaner, and it has no throttle response, e.g. revving, it coughs and splatters, havent tried revvin it high as it sounds like [Naughty Pottyword] at 2000rpm.

I am having probs with hte fuel and temp gauges dropping out from time to time. This usually lasts a week or so then both come back on line. Test lamp shows all appears well. Can anyone give us some advice or recommend and further fault finding exercises.I thought of removing it and getting it tested... How does the assembly wire out to the main feed and what would cause both to drop out if the line and power appear fine????????? Suggestions would help.

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows the problem with my VC. The ignition lamp remains on after the car has started and nothing I have done seems to help. I replaced the alternator belt and that fixed the problem for about a week but then it came back. It doesn't seem to effect the running of the car at all but is annoying and I am hoping it's nothing major. I've got a feeling it's linked with the alternator as the alternator doesn't seem to be generating enough power, ie. if headlights are on and I indicate then the length of time between indicator flashes is very long compared with during the day when headlights are turned off.

Hi all,
I checked my spark plugs last night and discovered oil on them particulary number 3 and 6 so im suspecting rings.
Where can i buy rings for my motor (blue 202) im in queensland, and also to change them to i need to bore it out or what. do u just need a ring compressor and no-how?
how hard is it to do?
