Cutting the floor

anyone know if you need an engineers certificate if you cut a hole in the floor to convert to a floorshift? im in victoria.

also will VK EFi fit under the LJ bonnet without cutting it.

im looking at getting an LJ that looks to be in pretty good condition and just want to check a couple of things first

A mate of mine is gettn his HZ tray top resprayed,can anybody tell me what was the "kermit green" colour was, or how to find out, we hear its a bit of a rare model, has my mate landed one of those classics!

Bought an X2 manifold & carb setup on the weekend, appears to have been recently rebuilt but I wanna know how difficult are they to tune?

Also if anyone has some X2 headers for sale I'd be interested in buying them.

1 tonner tray

black 3.3 pinging

My VK black 3.3 is pinging badly. Recoed about 10,000 kms ago. Is it possible to adjust/bypass the computer timing (electronic spark timing via flywheel). Would enlarging the combustion chamber in the head fix this problem. I've been told that pinging in the black motors is a common problem.

HQ Indicator Problem

I pulled out my dash the other day to disconnect the clock because it was driving me insane, while it was out i gave the instruments a quick once over with a rag and then put it all back together. My indicators havent worked since i put everything back together, anyone have any suggestions as to what i might have done, or how to fix it?

rebuilding celica 5spd

hi
i am currently putting a vk efi 202 and celica 5spd in my hg ute. i am rebuilding the gearbox and this may sound stupid but i can't get the box apart. i have undone all bolts and removed the rear housing, the centre plate is loose but i can't pull the front casing off, i have a celica repair manual but it doesn't explain how to get the gearbox apart

does anyone know?

oil leakage

hey guys, i just want to slim some things down and some of u might point me in the right direction. ok i have a bit of an oil leakage problem, it drips onto the extractors causing it to burn, but it eventually stops. im like ok, its like when i start the car it just splashes out or something, also other day i checked oil, the dipstick like there was nothing on it at all :( but the oil pressure guage was still working fine :s ... the motor has done 40k kms after a rebuild and im just trying to narrow things down so i can find it the quickest, thanks :)

I am hopin someone with a clue can set me in the right direction.

I just recently had the HR serviced, bless her old heart , i havent had her long , so i thought I'd do the right thing since she was runnin a bit rough.

I was told by the mechanic that my carbie was all but shot, and that when under load at higher revs, that it was [Naughty Pottyword]ting itself and therefore it was time to put a kit through it , or do the exchange thing.

i asked the carbie guy if it was a hard task , he assured me it wasn't and that i could do it no probs.

So i did....

Problem is it still runs like [Naughty Pottyword], and coughs and [Naughty Pottyword]s itself everytime i put the foot down to far.

What a hail storm the eastern suburbs of melb had this arvo! Hail the size of golf balls for 15mins! Well anyway The cars in the car park at my work were left pretty bruised and battered, apart from my torana. Good old aussie steel! Only problem is i left the sunroof open so i got wet seats and carpet....bloody melbourne weather!

repair or replace?

Hi all,
I just signed up on this site and thought maybe some of you could offer opinions.
I have a HX Premier with a 308 and a turbo 400 gear box.
When I was working (im at uni now) I spent a fair amount of money on it, a new 2" twin system exhaust, new plugs/leads/alternator/starter motor/fuel pump.
The engine was rebuilt only around 3 years ago and it hasn't done many K's since then. It goes pretty hard, I got 14 seconds flat out of it (hand watch not a stop watch heh :) on the 1/4 a few months back.
My question is, there is rust popping up all over the place, and Im pretty sure it will cost in excess of $3500 to have fixed and resprayed properly, so should I bother? Or do you think I should just forget it and buy something without so much body work needed.

Hj Premier fuel and Temp gauges

Im not sure if I have a gremlin in my Fuel and Temp gauges, occasionaly, they work, then flicker, then nothing, then all seems well, and then, there they go again, the clock works fine, as do all the instrument lights, and there is no problem with the alternator, is there any way of checking them without pulling out the dash.Any ideas would be great, thanks.

HG Holden's

G'day everyone,

I've been reading about most of the cars on this site and Im rapt to see so many enthusiatic owner's out there. Owning a Holden is a passion - you've either got it in your blood or you don't. ( And God help those who don't!)

I've been a HG fan since I was born. I was brought home in a HG ute when I was born and the same ute still sits in the shed.

My everyday car is a HG Kingswood 186 Tri-Matic, Kashmir White/Cinnamon Brown and 73,000 genuine miles. I have owned the car for 5 years and have managed to find most of the genuine extra's for it, such as scratch plates, fog lights, spats etc. I like to keep my Holden's stock-standard because that's the way I remember them.

I Thought 10 Bolt Salisbury was supposed to be strong :s

I got my ten bolt diff rebuilt a lil over a month ago now ... and it seemed to have conked out already, now i thought these diffs were supposed to be strong, do i just drive it like an idiot ? well sometimes yes ... :D but i think we all do. its behind a t400 auto with shift kit, and tuffened up. the diff had some 3:36 ratios put in... im stumped on how the hell it cld of just snapped :|
it wont even lock into 1st, the drivetrain just goes round and round and round. joy.
its going back to the shop, to hopefully be fixed under warrenty, if its void cause the way its broken, i wont be a happy camper.
