Brake frustration !!Grrrrrrrrrr

Hi All I'm getting really frustrated with getting my brakes working the way they should ,can someone please advise .
I got rid of the chrome after market master cylinder and refitted the original master after giving it a light hone and new rebuild kit ,thinking all would be good and having got halfway through bleeding the system I've found the master has a slight leak at the rear seal .
Is there any way to fix this ???
Cheers in advance
Kev

Boot Lid Badge

picked up a "Statesman" badge for my WB boot lid (passenger side) from an antique store of all places at a sensible price...the original on mine had been removed when the car was repainted quite a few years ago and the holes filled..the badge has 2 pins...I am presuming there would have just been 2 holes drilled in the lid slightly smaller and the pins were a taper fit - or was there some kind of plastic insert in the holes?

WB Caprice Door Ajar switch activator

Hi - I am having difficulty finding a front passenger side "door ajar" plastic trim that activates the door ajar switch. It screws onto the door lower corner and when the door is shut it depresses the door ajar lamp switch which is the same as the std Holden door jamb switch for the interior light. I am sure the driver and passenger side trim are the same (just inverted) but the front is a different size to the rear. They were only fitted to the Caprice which has a dash warning lamp when a door is not shut properly. Does anyone know where I can get one from ?

wb holden headlights

Apart from hanging a hz clip on the ute, is there anyway to improve the output of the headlights. Must be the worst headlight of all time. Are the wb stato lights any better with the built in spotlight?

Fuel Octane Rating for Stock Blue 308?

I've got a stock blue 308 in a WB - 9.2:1 compression ratio iaw published literature - I've been using PULP 98 Octane in it - expensive...do I need to do this ? - I just put around - it's not a performance car...I've had difficulty finding a reliable source of info re what to use - will 91 or 95 Octane be ok for a 9.2 engine - what about E10? What are others using with acceptable results and can anyone point to a good reference source?

New to old cars: should i go all gas

Hi All

I need to seek some advise.
I have just acquired a 1984 WB panelvan, mostly in original condition, 3.3L blue motor, 3 speed Auto on column.
Just picked van up after first road worthy attempt. Van is dual fuel, gas and petrol. Runs rough on petrol, good on gas.
Has almost all the emission fitting missing.
Speaking with mechanic, I asked is it better to go Gas only, no need for emission fittings. Would need to remove all petrol tank, pump, hoses etc.

Front wheel bearing seal?

I've just replaced front wheel bearings on my WB. There was a slight amount of play in the bearings on one wheel and while the bearings looked okay when I pulled them out (no discolouration or scoring, pitting etc) I thought it'd be cheap insurance to just replace them. Even with the new bearings, it has exactly the same amount of play... if I tighten the castellated nut to the next opening for the split pin, it just seems too tight, as in the torque applied on the nut increases a fair bit. I'm familiar with trailer bearings and the amount of play is acceptable but is it on a WB?

WB Statesman aircon hoses

I have had all sorts of grief getting my WB's aircon in order over the last year. Bought a reco A6 compressor (the original one had the clutch/pulley missing), new receiver dryer, NOS condensor, replaced the vacuum pods...
Yesterday I noticed that the air isn't blowing that cold anymore (just had a regas a few weeks ago when I had to replace the orifice tube).
One of the high-pressure ac hoses is leaking, just pin hole leaks but it needs to be replaced.

WB Caprice Rear Ride Height

was wondering if someone could tell me what the standard rear ride height should be with std 15 inch rims and 225/60 tyres and where you have taken measurement from eg ground to lower edge of chrome trim of wheel arch...Mine is sitting quite high, the service records show it was fitted with some h/d pedder springs - the part number corresponds to std height but the old fella I bought the car off said he had higher springs fitted for towing his van and they look like it to me.
