spark plugs

Hi,
I am putting a 290hp 350 SBC in my HT Prem. Was wondering what brand/type Spark Plugs would be best to fit?
Cheers

Holden Colour Codes

I hadn't noticed this before on Unique Cars so it might be something new (probably just didn't see it)

Holden Colour Charts, codes, paint and interior.

Scroll down to bottom for year of manufacture.

Might be handy for some of us :-)

Suspension mods on LH/X Toranas

Just thought I'd share so people can add this to their knowledge base...
After I had my car assembled and on the ground, I discovered that without any shims in, I was running about 8 -10 degrees of negative camber..
Problem is, adding shims would make it worse as it would pull the top arm in.
This is a direct result of replacing the steering with HQ stub axles..
After much deliberation, I decided to follow one of the suggestions as it made the most sense, and believe me, there was quite a lot made, and some wild and woolly ones at that.
The fix is to redrill and remount the upper control arm mounts to the factory A9X position, about an inch lower, problem solved, gave me positive camber, which would both allow me to lower it further, AND put shims in to give it a wheel alignment....

new engine running excessive temps

ok, question for the high performance guru's..
New motor in my SLR...
Im have imported American gauges, and a davies craig digital fan and water pump controller, both these units report that at around 85-90 degrees, my engine is boiling...
If you shut it down the pump and fans continue as they should to prevent heat soak, but you can hear it thumping and crackling as the water is boiling as it is pumped through the motor.
I do not have a thermostat in it, but do have the body of one in there to restrict the flow, the water pump does flow a large amount..
specs..
308, bored 60, stroked to 355.
full scat kit, balanced.
Crane 288 solid, full crane valve train with rollers,
Alloy VN heads, fair amount of port work
5 kilos removed from rotating mass

A word to the wise

Stay clear of the ACL one piece gaskets that are meant for the EFI engines, when rebuilding your red 308, they don't quite fit properly and as you can se, it fractured and leaked profusely on start up, had to drop the F#$%ING sub frame out and replace it with the cork 4 piece that I should have used in the first place

torana badges

It's time to put the badges back on, but looks like I've lost a couple of the little plastic sleeves that the badge pins slip into. Rare Spares say they don't to them, is there anywhere else that does or what else can you use aside from glue. cheers.
