I got a copy today , and this would have to be the best book on any Holden i have ever seen..

IF YOU HAVE A TORANA OR INTERESTED IN THEM , YOU MUST get a copy of this book, it has everything you will ever want to know about every model of torana made and ones that never got made , it is full of color pictures of all aspects of all the toranas 4 ,6 & 8 cylinder ones,with photos from the gmh archive that have never been released before..

IF YOUR BUILDING or doing up a torana this is the book to HAVE ,IT COVERS ALL THE SPECS , OPTIONS , PAINT AND TRIM CODES with pictures, and any thing else you might need or want to know about toranas..

Hi all and happy Australia day!
I have just removed the extractors off my LJ torana dont like them.
Thay were all over the place not a nice neat looking set of pipes at all!
So i'm looking to replace them soon and was wondering what to get next?
As thay need to fit nice with triple SU,S!
Does anyone know what Castle Headers are like or maybe M,P,H Headers?
I noticed them on Ebay!
Any help with this would be great thanks David.

Local specialist dont sell them, any suggestions?

I dont mind upgrading to inertia reel type, as long as teres no issues with engineers certificates or the like - if i need to worry about getting any paperwork done, i'd prefer to just stick with original style..

They seem to run at about $80 a each on ebay, but they dont make any mention of being standards compliant, etc..

I am looking at buying new mags for my HT Premier, to replace the Centerlines i currently have fitted. Most wheels i have looked at have several sizes of backspace.

I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to measure what backspace i need? Or can i measure the backspace of the current wheels and that will tell me what i need?

So, rear welsh plug in the original 173 in our LJ 4 door has rusted out and dumped fluid everywhere..

We have a newish 202 thats apparently a "good runner" lying around, that i suspect may be from an early commodore

My question -

If we swap the 202 for the 173, what needs to be done, apart from any mechanical bits? Ie, Vicroads, engine number change - what may they require? If the engines a few years newer? Etc?

hey everybody,

i have a 173 in my torana that keeps cranking but hardly starts. it has started on occasion but when it does so it seems to be revving fairly high. i have checked the timing on it and if i change it from where it is it stalls, no matter which way i go. i got it started this morning to my surprise let it run for about 20 mins or so then shut it off. about 2 hours later i went to start it again and it just continuosly cranks, sometimes with a slight shudder as if it had just fired but the goes back to cranking.

Does anyone know where you can buy new stub axle castle nuts for the old holdens?
Do general auto stores sell them?

Also if anyone has a HR lowered 2 inches ...and pics in your shed can you post up a link?

I'm considering drop axles from Stubtech set up for commodore brakes.
They're pricey but I plan on lowering it (don't know how much yet) and want commodore brakes and they'll aid in both.

Alternatively is anyone selling a setup to fit commodore brakes to a HR, I think my HR has HT stubs.

Hi everyone. For sale is a red 1972 LJ Torana S sedan. It has a balanced and sealed 161 speedwy red motor, with a Supra 5 speed and hydraulic clutch. GTR dash, Globe wheels, avaregae interior(red), minor rust only around lower sills and front floor pans, perfect panels, very straight car,heaps of spare parts incl. doors, fuel tanks, interior parts, front & rear winshields and much more. 100% complete. The car runs and drives beautifully, but isnt reg'd. Last licenced in 2007.

Anyone chasing any LJ torana parts? A mate is wrecking a VERY rusty car (4 door) - has bucket front seats (unsure if they all do), VGC glovebox insert (only small tear - about 15mm long- in top but could be fixed relatively easy), VGC front windscreen external sunvisor (no mounts, although I might have a spare set from a HT here - unsure if they are the same). iwill be looking a a lj gtr xu1 over the weekend and i need to know what should i look for in the tags to show it is genuine what would you pay for a rough one complete and pink in colour cheers

Can anyone tell me what the black knob that is adjustable on the rear of an Air Chief 8 radio?

The inside of the knob is a post that looks to have solder on it, is it for a wire and for what?
