exploding compressors..

Just a warning to those thinking of buying a compressor.
I have an EMAX 2HP TD-2025 small compressor mainly for pumping up tyres and other small jobs I have a large compressor I generally use.
Anyway the other day i turned it on after about 2 or 3 minutes the rear of the engine casing blew out with a huge bang like a shotgun going off and spread about litre of oil and bits of aluminium around the shed and over the missus car.
the compressor is only about 12 months old has only been used a few times.
The rear casing is extremely thin aluminium and obviously couldn't take the pressure even though it would not have have been at full pressure (100psi).
as the oil was cold there was no real damage although had to do a rapid wash and dry on the car as I value my life.

Diff housing bushes VK commodore

I am changing the diff housing bushes on my vk commodore the rear lower control arms connect to them...I know the old bushes have to be pressed outwards to remove them...I need to know if the new bushes have to be pressed inwards..they are nolathane and are tapered

insurance for women drivers

Well its official, women drivers are worse than men. lady friend was getting car insurance, i did talking because she wasn't sure what to do, the guy thought it was my car gave one price in my name, when informed it was her car-both of us over 30 - the price went up nearly 50 bucks.

Tachometric Relay Failure

My VK suffered a Tachometric Relay Failure on its first hot start for today.

Thanks to the EST tell tale light, which I use as my Fuel Pump Failure light, I knew right away what had gone wrong.

I replaced the relay and was underway again.

EFI off Carbie on VK Calais

I have a warmed up 3.3 in my VK Calais the EFI has been giving me lot of trouble, I want to ditch it and run a Carbie... Can I just diconnect the EFI hardware and computer, replace the EFI fuel pump with a standard electric pump and wack on a manifold and carbie ?? Is it that simple ? thoughts please.

HELP!

Ok guys I have 2 questions for someone who actually knows what the hell there talking about, not just opinions......

I'm rebuilding a Vk bombadore,
Originally a 202 traumatic blah blah blah

Unable to buy a decent Black (vk) 308 block I used a VU prefix 304 block to build my motor,

Now 1st question is, I'd like to run the hi rise torque power manifold I've got for it with a 650 Barry grant...

But being the block was originally from an EFI motor will I get nailed for not having the EFI?

Second question is, if I went ahead anyway would it be the roadworthy that stops me or being pulled over by a police officer who actually knows there cars and laws that puts me in the [Naughty Pottyword]?

t5 holden v8 gearbox , rebuilt box , first to second changes clash at revs

Vk ss group 3 , full top to bottom restoed and enhanced . had v8 t5 box rebuilt by Greg bridge , new bearings and syncros . gearbox is great ....except its impossible to shift first to second at revs without clash . same problem exactly before had it rebuilt ! Clutch is new and pedal height is spot on , gets every other gear inc rev no probs up and down . running Dex 3 fluid and lubrizol additive as per spec . any other reason apart from syncros that might cause this ?

computer virus?

last night the laptop showed a sort of purple screen with a skull and words like your computer is dead, then went off too quickly to read properly.
Anyone got a clue what that is all about?
So downloaded Malwarebytes, ran scan, no problems reported, now the computer wont respond, turn it on it just loads blue screen no desktop and the circle thing that indicates hard drive just keeps running forever and it wont turn off have to let the battery run down.

Help!

Efi to carby conversion

Hey guys,

Long story short..

I built a 355 using a 304 block and heads, can I run it in my VK
As a carb motor or will Qld Transport knock it back?

I would much rather it as a carby motor as both my Y series senator and my VU ute are EFI and want to tinker with a carby motor, the VK was a 202 car with a varajet,

I know I could just wack it in there and play dumb but I'd rather cruise knowing I don't have
To worry about a defect...

Alternator Replacement

I just fitted a brand new Bosch BXH1238A 70 Amp Alternator to the VK. It has a much higher output at idle than the original Bosch BXH1236A 55 Amp Alternator.

I had to pick up the idle speed to compensate for the new Alternator's increased ability to charge at idle. That involved turning the Throttle Stop screw down about 1 turn and resetting the Throttle Position Switch so that it still clicked at Idle.

Also, the shutdown response of the dashlights changed. The Alternator light now glows brighter and the Fuel Pump warning light has lost its afterglow when the Engine is turned off.

Essentially the new Alternator is still producing charge as the Engine winds down, losing the virtual earth for the Fuel Pump Light as a result of making the Alternator light glow brighter.

Turbo EFI 304ci conversion

Hey guys, long story short,

I built a GT4088 turbocharged 304 a few weeks ago
And on Saturday I bought myself a 1985 VK commodore
To drop the motor into,

Cars originally a 202 auto,

Now I'm going to upgrade the brakes to twin piston
VT brakes, and I'll be buying a VL diff with disks,
I'm looking at running a powerglide,

Questions are

VL- VS efi tank?
Motors a VU prefix so vn/vr/vs engine will I need to retain
Catalytic converters? What other emissions gear?

vk efi conversion

evening folks heres my question I have researched the net but cant find a simple answer ..
Given the auto runs no crank senor and the manual does via the flywheel magnets two things strike me
first why use the flywheel magnets at all if the motor runs in auto form with auto computer , would it mater if it was on a manual gearbox how would it know??

second could you use a divider and put magnets on the harmonic balancer and move the pickup sensor to the front to suit??

efi vk revs up then holds?

Hi all recently got my vk efi on the road but a problem has come to surface...when I start the car sum times it idles but if I touch the throttle revs won't come back down just climb higher...some times I start it and it just revs immediatly as high as it can go till I turn it off and back on...the throttle cable dosent need adjusting..the springs could be replaced but opens and close the butterfly perfectly in sync with the pedal..I recently replaced injectors..If that has any thing to do with it..its 202 efi please any help would be great

Wtb thermal vacum switchs 202 efi

Wanting to buy from any where in aus tvs for 202 efi...1 that sits on top of thermostat housing and the 1 that sits inbetween manifold and injectors I think it takes 3 hoses...I'm located mareeba qld 4880
