weber carb on the 202

Im putting a 34adm weber carb on my red 202. Ive got almost everything i need except an air filter assembly and an answer to a question.
Do I need more then 1 carby to manifold gasket if I want to fit the falcon air cleaner assembly?
I read on here that I need 3 of these gaskets to make sure the falcon air cleaner assembly clears the 202 rocker cover.
Is this true? If it is, where can I get them from?

Balljoints

Hi all,

I need a new front right balljoint as I distorted mine through hitting it with a hammer to remove it through frustration. Yes yes I know I'm an idiot...oh well it happened now time to fix it.
My question is does anyone know how much roughly it is to get them fitted because I need to get somewhere with a press apparently to do it. And do I just take it to a mechanic or do I need a special machine shop or something?

Cheers
James

Using bog

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting rid of all the small carpark dints down the sides of my car. I want to do it myself. Just wondering of using bog is seemed as dodgy? I want to do it myself like I said and they are only dints it's not like I'm filling rusty spots with big it doesn't have any rust in it.

I know I will have to paint it when I do it but I'm planning on painting it in the near future anyway. Its just I've always seen using bog as being dodgy. Please tell of your opinion and any advice. Would realy love some advice from any panel beaters on here aswell.

Tuning difficulties

Hi all

I'm having some trouble tuning my 202.
I've been playing with the Carby tuning a fair bit trying to get it right but just can't seem to get it right. I pull the plugs out after every few drives up the street to see how they are, and they are getting carboned up realy quickly. I pulled them out today and they were black as black can be. Not wet just black.

chopped springs debate

Hi all,

The good old chopped springs debate.
I'm looking to lower my car a little bit from the stock monster truck height its got at the moment. I dont want to slam it or anything, just enough to look neat. I've been looking around for springs, kits etc and its out of my price range at the moment. I've been talking to a few other people about chopping the springs for a temporary fix until I get the monney to get some lowered springs.
So i'm after your opinions and knowledge. How "dangerous" is chopping the stock springs in my VB?
My mate with another VB said to take about a coil and a half out of the front and 2 out of the back.

VB Fuel Tank pt 2

Hi all,

Pulled the fuel tank out today and gave it a good tidy up, scrubbed it all back and gave it a light sand to smoothen it off. Then gave it a paint. Came up realy good actually. The tank itself is painted matte black with clear over the top and the hangers are painted with a chrome spray with clear over the top.
Unfortunately i must not have left it long enough before i put it back in the car and part of the paint got marked up and while installing it the hangers scratched it up a bit, its not noticable unless you get under there and look for it but it annoys me because I know its there.

Let me know what you think, its not show quality by any means but it is alot tidier than the crusty old tank it used to look like and will do me until I get my drop tank for it.

VB fuel tank

Hi all,

I want to pull my fuel tank out and give it a quick sand back and coat of paint to neaten it up for now. Eventually I want to get a stainless drop tank but for now this will just tidy it up. Just wondering how difficult it is to pull the tank out and put It back in. I Havnt had a good look at it yet to Sus it out but has anyone on here pulled one out before and is there much to it?

Cheers

Sydney All Holden Day

Took the Quey to the All Holden Day today, it was a great day, 810 entrants and probably that many more old Holdens again in the car park.

Caught up with Shane (uca78t) and Scott (myeh). Checked out Shane's engine conversion, it turned out real nice. Finally got to have a look at Scott's EH and have a chat. It was good to see Scott get the Shannons Car of the Day award.

New meaning to a short shifter. lol

Hi all,

Minor setback, was taking my driving my car today and went to put it back in 1st to put up the driveway and all of a sudden there was no 1st gear. lol wondering wtf had just happened pulled the gear boot off to find it had snapped. (before you go criticising me of being a young hoon smashing through the gears. NO i havnt been). it somehow snapped on the weld, must have been a pretty sh!t weld. What happened to an inch of weld can hold a tonne. lol

Oh well will get it re-welded and keep going.

Cheers
James

202 timing issue

Hi all,

Firstly, i put a timing light on my motor again today because the mechanic told me to check my timing. It was at 6 degrees advance at idle but then at around 2500-3000rpm it had 40 in it. Which is obviously way to high. I backed off the timing to around 27-28 but then it didnt want to idle. I presume this means the dizzy needs some attention or a new one purchased. (By the way i'm running a Bosch HEI dizzy) I had another one fo the same dizzy out there which seemed in better condition so put that in but then it was trying to say it had around 25 in it at IDLE.

Please Help

Hi all,

Got my car back from the mechanics today, and the front end is all fixed up.
Got new adjustable strut tops, he reco'd the brakes all round, replaced the steering rack and gave it a good wheel alignment and its like a new car now :) But, when i got back to the shed and was taking it off the trailer (I didnt load it on my dad did) it didnt sound right, and it backfired and coughed on me 4 times in the space of about a minute. It had never backfired on me since i fixed that rocker a few weeks back and was running fine until this. So I then called dad who had left and he said it coughed for him a few times aswell when he was loading it on.

RWC TIME :)

Hi all,

Well its almost time to get the VB on the road. I'm taking it to a mechanic tomorow to get the front end and brakes looked at and then hes going to look over it for a roadworthy.

Just wondering if I NEED to have a spare tyre ad a jack in there to pass?

Some people have told me you do and others have said you dont need it but if you do have it it needs to have enough tread and jack must work.

If I do need them, will a retread with enough tread pass? and does it have to be the stock jack or can i just grab one out of my dads ute?

Whats this?

Hi all,

I pulled my rocker cover off today and noticed this black smear of what I presume is oil over the inside of the rocker cover right above number 3 inlet valve(see pictures I have attached). The top of the pushrod and rocker for number 3 is also very discoloured(see pictures).

Could someone please shed some light on what this could be from? And if its causing any damage of sorts as i dont know what it is from.

I have attached some pictures for you to see.

Cheers
James

Something loose in front end

Hi all,

Basically the last thing I need to get fixed before a roadworthy is a rattle i have in the front left. The only way i can describe it is when you drive it, it feels like the front left is just going to fall off. lol, wasnt that bad until the last couple of days where its gotten realy bad.

i replaced tie rod ends when I first bought the car because they were absolutely shot. And we did wheel bearings at the end of last year (but being unregistered its probably only done 50ks since then tops so they are basically brand new.

If you jack up the front end there is play in the front left but none in the front right. I'm thinking maybe I stuffed up on the front left wheel bearing or its faulty. What else could it be?

Overflow mounting

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows if there are any laws about the location of a radiator overflow bottle?
I want to mount it between the radiator and the grill so its hidden away. The way i had it dummied up i could easily get the lid open and see roughly half way down it. Just wondering if there was any laws about where it has to be mounted.

Cheers
