WTB: Plastic indicator cancel plate for 70s/80s Holdens

It seems you can get a reproduction unit for the early-70s vehicles, but I cannot find the plastic indicator cancel assembly that sits inside the steering wheel for anything after '72. I put a request out on Findapart, but no interest there.

Mine's been AWOL since I bought the vehicle (UC Torana). From what I can tell, it's the same part from the HQ all the way through to the VL.

3.3 Varajet carb problems

Hey everyone

Been tasked with the job of wiring up a 3.3 HEI engine at school. All is going well, ready to put the wires on. Only one problem, the carb isn't working. The engine hasn't been started in something like 5-10 years. Changed all the fluids etc.

Today I was fiddling around with the carb, testing the chokes and such. The throttle plate under the choke was working great until it suddenly got stuck open and then slammed and refuses to open again.

Anyone got suggestions to try. I will be working on it in about a weeks time so I can't really get pics.

Engine swap

Hi all

The vb is getting an upgrade and going 308
Just curious as to what I have to do rego wise
Do I gotta do a blue slip or is it just as simple as calling the rms and changing the number on the rego papers
My mate said I have to just get a blue slip but all they check is the engine nimber and can't knock the whole car back? Is that right?

Cheers
James

Ignition Fuse Blowing

Have purchased a car with unknown issues (79 VB Commodore RED 202), replaced yellow ignition switch to coil wire and pink ballast resistor wire from ignition switch to coil upgraded to thicker wire due to both being extremely heat damaged.
HEI distributor looks in order, plugs and leads fine.
Had to earth alternator to engine in order to get it charging and have charge light work with ignition on, now charging and showed around 14.5 volts on the dash until ignition feed fuse blew.

There was a steady kind of buzz noise coming from the upper dash area until the fuse blew but the car drove fine, fuse blows and then the noise stops plus charge light came on and engine pinged like crazy under load.

HEI setup and charge issue Red 202

Will try to keep this as brief as possible...
Purchased a VB Commodore with swapped over engine, old engine was points but this one is HEI and didn't have the wiring updated. The yellow and pink resistor wire have heat damage and fused together so they're both currently removed.

From here can anyone recommend a straight forward setup to run the HEI???

Also an issue is the charge light on the dash is not working and the battery is getting no charge, so the motor runs weak until the battery dies. The bulb is good and I can't see any other wire damage.

Mother of all cruises

Hi all

Well to the surprise of everyone I just got back from a trip to Queensland and yes I drove the mighty vb the whole way there and back
2425ks in a week and it hasn't missed a beat still going strong
Everyone said that it wouldn't even make it up and I would ruin the whole Holiday and much to everyone's surprise I'm home safe and sound without even getting a single tool out of the toolbox. Didn't miss a beat. Had a ball.
Was the most enjoyable cruise and longest I've ever been on. Loved every minute of it.
And who said you can't cruise 4.11s. I got 11L/100ks for the whole trip including driving around town for a week up there. Don't think you can complain with that from a 202.

IM BACK!!!!!!!

Hi all

Yes I'm back lol
Been a while but I'm back working on cars lately an cruising my daily driver VB around lots now I got my license back and it's back running again. Unfortunately the green car is still sitting in the shed on stands completely stripped. My daily now has the standard 202 still in it, the exhaust, 5 speed and the 4.11 vl turbo diff from the green car in it but so it gets along a little better than the standard auto and 3.08 diff. Just enough for a nice cruiser

Help with parts identification

Image:

I purchased a heap of NOS parts today and would like some help with the identification of these parts. The one on the left has EH r/h written on it and part number 7415780. The one on the right has HD and part number 7425721 (which I think might be wrong) written on it. The attached photo is of a VB Grill I think? Thanks for your help.

WTB: Quadrajet metering rods

Hello Ladies and Gents,
I'm currently looking for some primary metering rods to suit a Quadrajet carby. I'm looking for some 48M rods though would consider 46M or 47M rods aswell, but they must be M series rods.
An obscure request, I know. Hopefully someone has a crate of parts kicking around the shed Very Happy

I would also consider secondary metering rods other than AN, CX, CH, DH, or DA as a way to broaden my collection.

WTB: Holden 6

Hi guys,

Chasing a few things.

1. a warm/hot Holden 6, preference for 186 however will look at others. Around the $1500 mark. In qld or northern nsw
2. reputable, well priced media blasters in Brisbane, someone who knows what their doing and wont warp the [Naughty Pottyword] out of panels.
3. a decent, well priced painter/panel beater or even a bloke who does a good job from home.

Need to get this HR off the ground and on the road.

email: brendon.moorfield@gm...

Cheers Guys
