trimatic question
By FCCOOL 16/05/13@18:56 LetsCruise 2147I have a trimatic, i beleive from a VC commodore,(in a FC holden red 6 with a eaton supercharger) i was rebuilding the valve body and got the last three springs mixed up, the manual i am using is LJ/HQ, the later trimatics seem to have different springs in the valve body and i was wondering if anyone has a a manual, im sure this is in the very last page of the GM workshop manual for the later commodore trimatics, i need to know the colours for the following springs. "1) "low control valve spring" 2) low speed downshift timing valve spring" 3)" high speed downshift timing valve spring"
Doors are on

By TUFFVB 12/05/13@16:43 Shed LetsCruise 2152Hi all,
Haven't updated for a while but it's all sanded back and ready for colour. Was meant to be coloured yesterday but there was a mixup of dates. It's happening next Saturday. Got to see it in the sun finally today and pretty happy how its all come up. All accept my front left guard.
It had an old repair I redid and really should have replaced the guard. It's pretty stuffed. It's all straight accept for one bit up the front I just can not fix spent a few days on now on it and still no luck. Will just leave it for now and buy a new guard later. It's only visible from a certain angle but its still visible which I don't like. Few things on the body here and there but nothing major. Overall I recon it will come up pretty good and can't wait till its coloured next weekend :)
Step 1 of the colour change complete :)

Front cowl rust panel in
By TUFFVB 27/04/13@21:48 Shed LetsCruise 2152Hi all,
I put the replacement cowl panel in yesterday and today. Bit of a headache but its in now. Came up pretty good, hope my panels all line up good but should be alright.
Can anyone tell me what they put between the cowl panel and the guard From factory. The filler sort of stuff they use? What can I use to fill it when I put it all back together?
Cheers

Almost ready for colour :)
By TUFFVB 22/04/13@00:25 Shed LetsCruise 2152Hi all,
Just another update.
I Bought a new bonnet yesterday as the old one was pretty rooted and I got it in primer today.
Also spent a fair bit of time on one of the doors smoothing all the dints from it and got it in primer today aswell. Actually stoked how the door came up. Looks awesome, nice and smooth.
Finally nearing the end of the body work. Just got 3 doors and the front windscreen sill to go. Need a new replacement panel for the front sill though as the rust is all the way through. Hopefully have all the doors done by the end of the long weekend coming up :)
Anyway that's another update for you all. Check out more photos in the attachments on this post.
Cheers

Getting there slowly
By TUFFVB 14/04/13@21:42 Shed LetsCruise 2152Hi all,
Another update on how the VB is all coming along
Ive been working away at it everyday after work and all weekend. got all the door jams in high fill now, and fixed up the rear end as it had a fair few things that needed some attention and spent all of today on the front quarter panels. took alot longer than expected with heeps more spots that needed work than i thought and found a dodgy repair from a previous owner which took me forever to redo. They came up awesome but, all smoothed, de badged and deleted the standard aerial hole aswell.
How to Build a High Performance Holden 6
By Qute 11/04/13@02:32 Shed LetsCruise 6056A 35-ish page document/website on what does/doesn't work when building a Hot Holden 6: http://oldjohnno.id....
I stumbled across it in a Link from the Bolwell site.
He makes some VERY good points throughout it. Just be warned, it WILL take quite a while to read it all...

By thunderbolt 30/03/13@17:25what is the actual difference between a banjo and a small sails
diff carrier (both are 3.08 to 3.55 ratio carriers )
witch way is the crown wheel offset on a banjo compared to a small Salisbury
eg can a banjo carrier be used in a small Salisbury with a spacer made to suit
More progress
By TUFFVB 28/03/13@18:41 Shed LetsCruise 2152Hi all,
Made some more progress yesterday and today, took the roof all the way back to bare metal and deleted the fuel filler cap as i will be running a fuel cell this time around. Got it all smoothed today and 1 coat of primer on to save the bare metal from rusting over easter while im away, but next weeek will work on the rust in the front windscreen sill and prepping the door sills so i can finish priming the whole body off hopefully by next weekend and then move onto the doors and bonnet when i finally find a new one in good nick.
Over all im stoked how the rear end and roof came up today, couple of spots i have to take back and fix up but only minor and the hi fill would probably even fix it but id rather do it now while its only early days.
Panelbeating progress
By TUFFVB 26/03/13@22:36 Shed LetsCruise 2152Hi all,
An update on the rust story.
I've been working Way at the rear screen, cutting out rust and replacing with plates.
I not have all of the rust in the rear screen cut out and welded we up. Just need to finish off bogging it up and I can move onto the front which I'm not looking forward to.
I've attached some photos of what I've done, let me know what you think.
Cheers

Rust
By TUFFVB 20/03/13@22:25 Shed LetsCruise 2152Hi all,
Got the screens pulled out today an finally got to see how bad the cancer is.
It's worse that I was hoping with a dodgy bob previous repair to the back left not helping. I have attached some photos to this thread.
An most likely just going to buy the replacement panels from rare spares and put them in so its done properly and won't be coming back that way.
Does anyone have any experience with these? I presume they are a pain in the ass to get in and out.
Cheers
James
Panel work update
By TUFFVB 17/03/13@20:57 Shed LetsCruise 2152Hi all
Just a quick update for everyone that's interested
The car is pretty much completely stripped down now. All doors are off, bootlid is in primer.
Somehow managed to snap a door hinge yesterday in the removal so had to weld that up today and took the bootlid all the way back to bare metal to remove all the crows feet looks much better now.
Decided that since the thing is completely apart I am going to change colour. To what I don't know yet but lol
Anyway that's where it's all up to.
Cheers

By TUFFVB 10/03/13@22:47 Shed LetsCruise 2152Hi all
Got the bay in high fill primer yesterday. Came up pretty good for my 1st time. Couple of minor things I am going to fix up tomorow before I do any more primer but after 3 coats it looks pretty good. Very happy with my panel work so far just need to fix those things that are bugging me and will be all good.
Let me know what you think

Engine bay photos so far
By TUFFVB 03/03/13@21:02 Shed LetsCruise 2152Hi all
Another weekend spent in the shed welding and grinding away at the engine bay.
Got all the wires hidden and all the holes welded up. Almost had it all grinded back but ran out I grinding discs this afternoon so decided to make a start on the bog around the old battery tray.
Still needs a little bit more but its almost there and looking pretty good.
Put a thin film of spray putty over it to prevent any bare metal parts from rusting between now and next time I'm there and it came up realy nice and smooth on the guard where I had been sanding this afternoon.
I have a good feeling this should turn out ok after seeing how nice the guard and battery tray had come up already and the battery tray was like a mountain track before I started with the bog.
Engine bay progress
By TUFFVB 02/03/13@21:52 Shed LetsCruise 2152Hi all,
Got the majority of te engine bay wiring hidden today. Hopefully get it all finished tomorow so I can finish welding up the holes and start on the bog.
Looks pretty good, got next to no wires in te bay now so should look pretty good once its done provider my paint work is half decent.
Cheers
James
