too hot hz

I have a 307chev (with warm cam) in my beloved beautifully restored hz ute. The vehicle can run on both gas and petrol. But when on gas she heats up in traffic and dont cool down till rolling. To date I have: added an electric fan, changed the water pump, changed the thermostat for a lower one - with holes drilled in it, added a fancy quadruple core massive radiator and finally added a plastic flexi fan. Anyway my next try will be to dump the mechanical fan, trawl the wreckers for a japanese twin sucking fan and shroud set up. Seems to keep the wifes twin turbo japper cool.

Would love advice!

Hi Fellas (and girls),
I have a blue HZ wagon, powered by the meaty 202, with a 3-speed manual gearbox and the car is 100% stock, and in good condition. I was just chasing some advice from all u hardened veterans out there (Im only on my P's :( ) Ok, firstly, what kind of cost would I be looking at to put a set of 5-spoke mags on my HZ? Im not sure about wheel size, but I could find out.
Secondly, where in NSW (preferably near Tweed Heads) would I be able to get reliable parts such as extractors, exhaust etc? If I were to do my HZ up, what would u guys recommend, ie. what components should I change, keeping in mind that I'm more concerned about how she looks than how she purrs just now. And finally, where would I have any of the original moroon upholstery repaired/replaced?
Thanx heaps for ure time,
Ben'

overheating hx ute

Hey Guys
I am poor - want to know why? I am poor because of the bad advice that people keep giving me. Every time I embarked on each of these measures the gumball mechanics/shop assistants would tell that this will cure it for sure (where is the accountability - in my job if i got it this badly wrong i would be taken to court and literally sued for millions).
Anyway my next try will be to dump the mechanical fan, trawl the wreckers for a japanese twin sucking fan and shroud set up. Seems to keep the wifes twin turbo japper cool.
What do you all think? I have I missed anything? Advice and donations of large amounts of cash welcome.

HZ Statesman + heater installation

Gday all!

A couple of questions if I may, regarding my HZ Statesman:

1. With a new heater core on the way from Rare Spares, I'm going to tackle the install myself. Any tips or tricks? Does the whole LHS of the dash from glovebox down need to be pulled out (as appears to be the case)?

HZ GTS gauge brands.

To anyone that has installed/pulled apart/seen a HZ (or any model from HQ) GTS dash. Please take note of what brand the "oil/temp/fuel/amp" cluster is. I would like to know if it is VDO or another brand. Also HZ/HX Caprice dashes with the oil gauge in them.

GTS dash problems (Oil pressure guage)

Hi all, on the weekend I finally got around to installed a new oil pressure
sender unit. I bought the unit from Repco down here in Hobart and it is
considerably larger than the old oil pressure switch. The car is a 1977 HZ
ute, GTS dash (oil pressure GUAGE).

My problem is when I start the engine, the gauge goes to full deflection and
then slowly falls back down to zero. Does anybody have any suggestions??

The old oil pressure light (connected up to the old oil pressure switch) in
the old dash worked fine...

Cheers

HZ ex-police car

Jules and I found a HZ Kingswood SL at a wrecker today. It was white in colour and had the books in the glovebox showing it was an ex-police car. It was a 6cyl 3-speed manual. It had a very late built date of 10/79 and had a lot of WB type gear in it, like, Cable operated cluch, WB style exterior door handles. Being a Police car, what other options would it have? You could even see where the police radio had been mounted on the dash. Here is the owners details.

Original radio fader control knob

Gday,
I have an original radio fader control knob I got out of a HZ Statsman. Just the knob, no pot. Is it worth anything to anyone? It's in A1 condition, great for that original resto.

Re-painting interior plastic parts

I have a mint cond. brown console and the plastic part of the floor shift steering column. I need to re-paint them black. My Crashpad and glovebox have been painted, but I didn do it, I bought them already done. Does anyone know the correct paint to use, where to buy it from and if I need to treat the plastic with anything first to make it stick? They were painted in the factory anyway.
