hi guys im having a weird isse with my 179. when im at the lights its like the motor is pulling, trying to go.. my foots on the brakes but it trys to jump. any ideas? for some reason i think it might be transmisson related. its a column shift trimatic.

Hi i am new to the site and couldnt find the bit where you can find answers to questions that have already been asked, so sorry if this is a repeat. the brakes on my HJ are playing up. everytime i hold the brake pedal down whether the car is running or not after about 2 minutes it goes to the floor and i lose my brakes untill i take my foot off the pedal and then repeat step one.

I checked the nipples and lines for leaks, to my limited experience it seems good

I bled the brakes

checked the suction hose (or whatever that hose is called)

still the same problem. if you have any ideas please let me know, as this is my daily driver and i dont like the thought of dodgy brakes.

Hi, I have a red 308 engine (turbo pattern) and tried to connect up a T400 today. I used a flexplate from a 253. It fitted ok onto the crank but when I tried to connect up the torque converter from the T400, the 3 bolts would not line up. They are all a few mm's out of alignment.

I thought that the 253 and 308 flexplates were interchangable?

I do not know what the t400 came off - maybe a chev!

Do I have the wrong torque coverter or is there a different flexplate for a 308 T400 combination, compared to the 253 trimatic flexplate?

Recieved my new floors for the pano yesterday (Thanks to Betta Auto)
So Im hoping for a clear weekend so I can have a crack at welding them in.

Are there any tips that might help me out while I attack them? I plan on butt welding them in, so no overlap to catch water or moisture in and rust them out again..
Been through a lot of streetneats pics which helps out too...

I have just cc'd my cylinder heads and they aren't the size advertised (58cc instead of 64cc). My static compression is now 11.3:1 and dynamic is 8.6:1. Will 98 octane be good enough? Can anyone give me some input or should I just get chambers taken out to 64cc.
Note: I have imported these heads from the states and it'd be a sh@t fight to return them.
Another note: I have contacted seller and waiting for a reply.

Hi 5 years ago I built my trimatic up and manualised it all that upgrade stuff it started leaking oil when it was parked overnight out of the torque converter seal so I just resealed the outer seals of the box but it still leaks oil out of the front torque converter seal when I had it out I checked the shaft of the torque converter no bad wear marks, did my oil level when the car was hot after running through the gears when the car is turned off the level gets really really high I also noticed when I mount my torque converter to the flywheel it has to be pulled out a fair way to mount would that be a problem?

I've added the rest of the items I'm selling.

Mostly LPG related parts, carbies, a dissy and an original Delco air con compressor.

Yet to be put up is an original 2 barrel 253/308 manifold. It's in pretty good nick, but I need to give it a good clean.

im looking for some centrelines (just the flat polished ones) or convo pros... i want some money my way as centrelines only usually go for a few hundred and these are worth approx 1000. if you aint got money to give, a nice hq nosecone or any hq parts in general might be a deal.

Hey peoples.... I know this question has probably a hundred times but i'm just gonna ask again.. I've been googling the [Naughty Pottyword] out of this question in every kind of format and its not giving me a direct answer, so would anyone here know if the HJ came out with a factory 350?? I remember reading years ago that early models were given this option to get rid of old stock left over from the Q's. The reason for asking is im looking at dropping a 350 in my sandman ute and want to get it registered with the 350 here in Western Australia, but if it wasn't a factory option it could be a pain in da butt getting it registered, but not impossible....

Thoughts????
