HQ won't start
By 95lloyd 10/02/12@17:44Ok so my car was running rough, and then it became more and more difficult to start, someone suggested I check the points, they were pitted so I replaced the contacts and the gap is sweet.
Now I realize the car only starts when I put some petrol in the carb and then it turns over no problem, car runs fine once going but needs gas in the carb to start. Forgive my ignorance I'm trying to learn as much about the old girl as I go.
Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

HQ 202 Throttle linkage return spring
By bearmatt 10/02/12@16:14Hi All,
Doing a bit of work on my sons HQ ute. It has a Red 202 with manual throttle linkage (not cable) with a standard Stromberg carbie. I noticed that between the pedal and the carbie there is only one spring return (at the carbie). Years ago on karts we used to have two, one at the pedal and at the carbie.
Is this normal that a single frail little spring returns the pedal and linkages - or are we missing one somewhere at the pedal ?
Thanks for the help
Matt

Fresh from U.S.A
By Perth Mick 08/02/12@19:41 Shed LetsCruise 6210Ok so i looked at my salisbury and it was leaking from pinion and axles and the 4 pin cone type lsd "brand new" units available from some unnamed mob in vic was nothing but a let down. But i did a lot of research and tried looking into the yanky 10 bolt for ideas or anything else with the same dimensions to no avail. So i thought id just chuck the single spinner in. So dismantled it, got bearing kits and seals and tried researching how much preload etc and how to have the mechanic set it up but no info to be found.

Model 81269 QR

By RiceyJ 05/02/12@05:26 4680Can anyone tell me what the differnce, if any, between a commodore Salisbury 10 bolt diff and HQ era Salisbury 10 bolt diff is? Are the crown and pinion interchangable between the two? I have been on Holdenpaedia and there is some good info on there but cannot find the answer yet.

By a Holden Fan o.O 03/02/12@06:58G'day all, panelbeaters with old time skills mainly, I'm after any tips on making dollies and bodyspoons for hard ,to get at panels?
I,m trying to metalfinish the rear 1/4s on an hq ute mainly between the door and wheelarch. So far I have done the dents I can reach with hand dollies and slappers. I'll need an assistant and some bodyspoons to reach the lower dents.I also have a shrinking disc so some overstretching is not a problem.Amazing thing the shrinking disc.
Any help much appreciated....cheers ...Paul

Attention Leroy.. HQ 1972 19G trim
By monaro202 02/02/12@21:43Leroy I was looking through your trim pics & noticed that you dont have a pic for 19G trim inserts, it so happens I have a HQ kingswood sedan with 19G trim, well whats left of it anyway, here is a pic of the front bench all thats left, standard Kingswood stitching pattern, but the material is a copper & black checker pattern, which would've looked very nice when new, I have included a pic of a section of the material that has come unstiched & show it's original colours. up to you if you want to use it..
