I was walking through a wrecking yard toady (Adelaide) and came across a early commodore, with a short holden v8 in it. four inch bore, oh is it a 308? look at the side of the block and it had 'HP' cast on the side of it. Had a look inside the car and there was a pair of big port/big valved heads equipped with double valve springs to go with it. My question is, does anyone know what this motor may have originally came out of? its painted blue but anyone could have done that. If an any one wants to know where it is i will tell them, it doesn't bother me.

Hi all
Just wanted some advice for the right sealant to use when reinstalling all the bits onto the firewall.
I'm talking the steering column, booster, clutch master cylinder, heater box, and various grommets.
What should I use??

Hi all, I've been asked to O haul a Q jet from a WB [blue] 308. Problem is that some genius has tried to convert the auto choke to manual. As a result the following parts are missing and I would like to buy them and or a complete carby. 1 I need the screw on arm that attaches to the choke butterfal shaft and 2 the link rod that joins the above arm to the shaft from the choke mechanism. Sounds vey complicated but for anyone farmillier with these carbies it should make sense. Also the two tappered screws that fit below the choke butterfly are missing.

I have reasearch the topic of HQ brake upgrades on Torana's but there is no rear upgrade material. I have upgraded by front rotors and calipers from a HZ with 6mm machined off the rotors and rear HQ drums. I have fitted a XD Falcon master cylinder with built in proportioning valve. Reasearcg suggests that the rears will lock up under braking. Also rearch as suggested that the Torana wheel cyclinder can be used to replace the HQ ones to overcome the locking up issue.
My questions are:
1. Since the HQ wheel cylinder is 22.22mm long and the Torana WC is 19.05, will this cause an issue with braking.
2. What is the affect on the push rods (I think thats what they are called) that fit bewteen the WC and the rear brake shoes when braking.

Any advice appreciated, cheers, Daz.

Have an old project i no longer have any time for, reason it is so cheap is i am moving back to QLD and have to get rid of it before i go otherwise itll cost me a arm and a leg to take it with me.
Holden HJ premier 1976
Was my daily when it had a 202, then had a 308 built by PLR engine reconditioning in brendale QLD. Car then was driven for 2 months and accumulated 1200 km on the new engine. Then i Joined the army and the car was put into storage and not driven or started for 9 months, started when it was taken out of storage and blew a head gasket. Has sat in the carpark for another 9 months and now have no time or effort to fix it back to its previous glory.
List of modifications:

Hi all,
Right, HZ Statesman 308... Starts fine, idles maybe slightly lumpier than normal but still fine, doesn't sound like it is missing as such. Put the car in gear, car vibrates more than usual although revs still sitting around 800-1000, foot off brake, no problems, foot on gas, engine almost instantly dies. When car is out of gear, it will rev up fine. Makes no difference whether in drive or reverse.

I have a Pre Pollution Long 308 red motor, Turbo pattern that has had one head removed for inspection, for sale. obviously needs reco, but is all there. I have removed the Maxi-tork manifold and Holley (650 i think) and a mallory distributor. I dont know what these are like, but the motor was going when removed apparently, which is also for sale. I also have the 253 that came out of my HZ ute. Ran fine on gas, just needs a carby kit for petrol. This engine did not leak any oil and is complete (ready to drop in. Not asking huge money as others on ebay are, just a fair price? locvated in central victoria. Contact Biery on 0427 332 176 or leave a comment.

Picked up my seats and door trims from the trimmer today. I'm happy with the way they turned out, they're fairly basic but that's the look I'm trying to acheive. I want it to look (to the untrained eye) like it could have been the original trim. It's loosely based on the standard Belmont trim that was originally fitted to the car.

Am trying to revin HT 308 GTS Monaro, problem being orignal plates show vin ID should be 80837TJHT19270M, can anyone advise if this is a correct code?
The tag fitted to the car is actually 80837TJ192236 which looks correct to me?
Main issue is to sort out if the first code is correct.

I have a dilemma about the extra length required to my hand brake cables due to upgrading from standard 9in Torana rear drums to HQ 10in rear drums. The cables are standard Torana. I have measured the short fall in the cables and I measure a 4in short fall.
This does not make scene because I would have thought that the short fall would have been only 2in due to an inch difference at each drum.
Is this my assumption correct or is the measured 4in short fall right.
I assume that there are a lot of people that have done this upgrade and therefore I ask them or others what length was a cable extended too. I would assume that you would only need to extend one cable only.
I welcome any suggestions or experiences that will help me.
