G day All!
I've got a problem with the steering in my car at low revs say parking or going round the corner the car will make a 'grrrr nawwwww grrrrr' noise. Now the belt is tight, and the pump is less than a year old. The rack is about 5 years old now. But I can't see any noticeable leaks. However I did notice that the fluid was a bit low... Say 150mls. But it seems to have tiny air bubbles in it. So... Is that the problem air? How do you bleed the air out of it? Also a general question in the steering racks, after 5 years do they just fail? Like a seal goes in them? I was told that every 5 years a guy I know would have to replace his whole rack. You could set your watch to it so to speak. Is there any truth to that?

Finally about to get some paint on my 69 ht gts monaro. Can anyone help me with the color codes for Verdoro green, the gold stripes which i believe are persion gold and the black strip across the bootlip. I get conflicting color codes for verdoro green so i am assuming that the ht and hg are slightly different.

after a year of trouble with the ram power assisted steering on my hg brougham (it was too light)
& no one knowing how to work on it...I ended up buying a new ram from holdenmanrestomotive@gmail.com for $314.00 delivered. My husband replaced it quite easily, all he had to do was purchase a tie-rod remover from super cheap auto for around $30.00. Problem solved.
It drives brilliant. Hope this info can help some one else..

Hi... I've got a VK 308 with a power steering squeal that won't go away. It has a brand new power steering pump on with Gilmer drives and the belt's been replaced a couple of times. A bit of belt grip seems to do the trick for a while, but when you're going towards full lock the squeal is back after a week or so. This is driving me crazy! Should I get a shorter belt and clean the pulleys with metho? I'm pretty sure the alignment is fine.

Also... There's a strange knocking/rattle type noise from somewhere at the front (i think) of the car that only seems to happen on deceleration and braking. When i've got my foot on the gas it's fine. Any ideas? U-joint?

I'm about to rebuild a blue 308 but have been given some L34 spec red head with Manley Roller rockers etc............can I use the red heads on the blue motor?

Hi all need help answering a couple of questions!

1st i finished my vk calais engine and body was running fine till just the other day all power kept getting drained from battery. I re charged battery Green indicator on batt not working any more. Wont crank over. Dash lights but no kick what so ever!

Anyone know what it is? Im guessing a loose wire to starter motor but could be wrong
has anyone had this problem and could help me solve it??

Hi all.
When I turn the key to the "on" or accessories, the starter wants to start the car. If I turn the key all the way (so I have spring resistance) it stops.
I have an MSD ignition system installed 6al, dizzy and coil. I have wired that up correctly and tripled checked. I have replaced the ignition switch as I thought that may be the problem and have tried it in all possible positions slide back and forth to desired So shaft has full range position and tighten with the 2 bolts that attach it on the steering column.

I really bought it for this, VR-BT1. 5lt/Auto, HSV Air intake. Hopefully if all goes to plan I may have a tonner to put it in.....Maybe.

The bonnet was an added bonus. (pfft)

Is it possible to fit a set of commodore buckets into my HJ van without too much re engineering? When I bought it it was fitted with a pair of Saas seats and it was the dodgiest looking setup you could imagine. After welding up all the holes I am left with the original mounting holes. I am trying to get away from looking for a pair of standard seats and then having to get them reupholstered. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I bought Timken sets 63(x2), 69(x2) (pinion and diff centre carrier i believe)

-1x pinion seal
-2x axle seals and
-1x shim

Bought it to redo my diff but i've just bought a 9 inch instead.

Anyone want to grab these? cost me $143 for the bearings and pinion seal then about $10 for the axel seals.

I'll take $100 and ill pay for postage.
