Port Fairy Rod Run 2011

I was hoping someone on here may recall an article in the last few months about the Port Fairy Rod Run held at the start of this year.

Unsure of which magazines may have ran a story, but if you recall, or even better can email a .pdf or scan of any such article to kerrmit@bigpond.com it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance..............

Black underguts

Black underguts

Woo!

Finally making progress on the old girl, painted the underside of the car late last week. Satin black, its still a bit wet in the photo. Sorry bout the ordinary photo taken on my phone.
I've now rolled it over to the other side and have a few runs to rub out and a couple of spots to go over again. Damn its good to see progress though, I'll be able to bolt some stuff on soon and get it rolling.

The engine bay will be next and I'm tossing up whether to paint it body colour (white) or gloss black. Can you guys post up some pictures of white engine bays please? Just to give me a bit of an idea of how it will look.

Cheers, Tom

Fuel starvation 2nd carbie

Hi All,

I have just replaced my cam to a larger size and now all back together i have fuel starvation at idle or at 2000 rpm sitting in the garage, the 2nd fuel bowl just empties over about 1-2 mins, it is the 2nd carbie in the fuel line (end of line), the first is ok. I thought it was just needle and seat but no replaced that and still the same. i thought maybe the fuel pump was not pumping enough so i connected a very small electric fuel pump and if i switch it on all is fine, disconnect it and the bowl empties, as it runs out of fuel i reconnect and away it goes... any ideas is it a faulty fuel pump?

thanks

HR history V8

Hi, we know that the HD was a redesigned by GM US to become the HR, i also heard that they put a v8 in it rather than the 186. Does anyone know if this is true if so what were the specs (or where can i get them) and were any ever made? i was thinking of converting mine but want it to look like a standard factory V8 as close as possible to the US design if it is true....

HR fuel line size

Hi all,

Can any one please tell me the original size for steel fuel line on a HR Holden? 5/16? I'd have a measure myself but I'm away from the car for a week or so.

Cheers, Tom

HD HR twin carb suit HT

Hi

Just quick question i been looking at some twin carby set-ups and im wondering if twin carby set-up from HD HR 6 cylinder would bolt onto HT 186.

The ones i have looked at have the square ports for the manifold but it looks different for some reason to ones i have seen for HT HG

From what im looking at the manifold has a slope compared to other i have seen which are flat so would HD HR x2 setup fit HT is really the question

Mark

186 rebuild

hey all,
i have just rebuilt a 186, it os now in the ute. I've been taking it easy to let the motor run in, today i had to drop the kid off at school, so we went in the ute, when we were coming down a hill i noticed heaps of smoke coming out my pipe, when i say heaps i mean alot, poor car behind me moved lanes realy quick, i pulled the ute over to the side of the road and had a look under the bonnet to see if the engine was leaking, it wasnt. I started the ute back up and the smoke was gone, kept driven home and when i had to drive down another hill the same thing smoke pissen out the pipe, why would this happen?

HR ID

Hey all!

i know this question has probs been asked plenty of times! and i have been trying tofind the answer through old posts, holdenpedia and other forums etc!!

Battery Enquiry

I've recently moved back home from interstate after 4 years abroad, and during that time although driven from time to time the battery in my old girl has given up the ghost and now won't hold charge.

I thought I would take this opportunity to replace it with an authentic when new in appearance battery, so with that I'm looking for any information on companies who can supply batteries which look like those used in the period of when my HR was new. Been through some of my photos and have found a couple which I believe are close to the original looking type used.

From a promotional picture including the X2 engine bay I have on record the vehicle in the advert seems to be show a battery similar to that of the green capped battery shown below.

Wreckers in brisbane area for HT->VK 6 cyl, pref pick-a-part

part II

ok - this is what I am guessing the part looks like, it's a belt tensioner, bolts onto the front head bolt and supports the belt so that it runs horizontally from the top of the AC compressor.

you can see the top of the bracket bolting onto the head bolt near the drivers side of the thermostat.

The guy who sold it had it off the motor for a fair while and that part that tensions the AC belt and the alternator tensioner got lost in the mix.
