cinnamon brown HG

My 2nd car was a cinnamon brown HG like this ($400 from an old lady in Taree) .
Mine didn't have the spats, unusual rear boot badge or the unusual colour coded boot either. I dont think that's factory but (I cant belive im saying this) That is a VERY nice car and I actually like the colour now (I called mine poo brown and hated it back in the day)

paddock bashing OH

I think most of us can relate to trying to kill an OH at some stage of our lives. My 2nd car (HG sedan)ended up on the farm as a paddock basher / roo & fox spotlighting vehicle for a few years before it was sold very cheaply as a demolition car and destroyed at the Newcastle speedway. (We never did kill the 186). The HK in the clip (link below) sure takes one hell of a pounding.

HG wiper arm removal

Hi all.
Would anyone know how I get the whole piece out that attaches to the wiper arm? I need to completely replace the whole thing as the previous owner has put 2 passenger side units on both sides. Do I need to pull the dash out? Thanks for any insight...

Hg and hq tie Rod ends.

Hi guys, I fitted a new set of tie rods and tie Rod ends (from resto country) to a late model hg recently and seem to be having an issue with the tie rod ends not tightening into the steering arms. The taper on the tie rod ends doesn't seem big enough for that in the steering arms and as a result when you tighten up the nut on the tie rod ends, it runs out of thread and the nut bottoms out before the tie rod is actually a tight fit in the joint. Seems worse on one side that the other. Bought another tie rod end from another supplier to see if any difference and nope, exactly the same.

Can anyone tell me what size the thread is on the outlet side of a red six fuel pump?
I believe it is tapered. Is this correct?

186 Rear Main Bearing Cap Torque

Hi, been a long time since I posted anything here.
Anyway I'm doing a rear main rope seal on a 186 and I'm just about to do up the mains caps. My ellery's manual says the mains caps torque spec is 60 - 70 lb/ft but it then also says that the rear main bearing cap torque spec is only 20 - 26 lb/ft. Does that sound right? Never done one before and not sure myself. Anyone able to shed some light on this for me at all? Thanks.

Fuel filler hoses

Hi guys, I have a EH ute, and I've had to remove the fuel tank because the car was left sitting for eons with fuel sitting in it, the sludge I got out of it was horrid. It looked like black thick mud and the smell almost made my legs buckle. Any way I managed to get it all cleaned out and was trying to source the fuel filler hose and the hose from the tank to the fuel line, I'm having trouble finding anything for my model, am I able to fit something from another model perhaps.
Thanks Shell Sable

HR Holden fuel

Hello

My HR had the fuel tank, filler and all lines removed i dont have any photos

The filler has a 1/2 size hose that runs to the tank vent i guess for filling
Then a smaller hose on the top side.
Is the smaller hose the vent that goes under the car so the tank can breathe and is this the only vent path the tank has once the cap is on

Thanks for you help

Surging 186 whilst at a steady speed

Hi, my 186 has just got a surging problem when at a constant speed, if i take my foot of the gas its fine, if i put my foot flat down at take off its fine, slow pickup also surges. It seems to idle fine. Recently replaced battery and its just been on an out of town run 4+hours of open road driving. Any suggestions on what this most likely could be? Thx

Front Clip question

The long and arduous process has started... Im piecing back together my fathers HR. Currently a stripped out shell with box's and Box's of parts...

I test fitted the front Clip over the weekend.. before painting and have a question Re-Alignment. If someone is able to depart some experience...

The outside dogleg at the bottom to the sill.. is there a spacer or any rubber suppose to go in between these 2 parts.. as even with the original bolts done up I was left with a gap of around 1mm on both sides

Any input would be much appreciated

Matt
