What Backspace do i need for new rims?
By bigfudge 13/01/12@00:01 Shed 3305Gday People
I am looking at buying new mags for my HT Premier, to replace the Centerlines i currently have fitted. Most wheels i have looked at have several sizes of backspace.
I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to measure what backspace i need? Or can i measure the backspace of the current wheels and that will tell me what i need?
Cheers. Ron

Damn squealing thrust race
By a Holden Fan o.O 07/01/12@19:57I just put a standard cluth in my FX Ute running a EJ 138, the new thrust race squeals like a bitch nearly every time I put the cluth in.
It took about a month to start making the noise, it works just fine. Can anyone help.

Funny story from the QLD EJ/EH forum
By a Holden Fan o.O 15/12/11@00:09Would like to share a laugh at my own expense.....
Yesterday Kylie and I travelled out to Canowindra Motors in central west NSW to pick up some parts and check out the old Holden collection at Canowindra Motors.
We wandered around old Charlie's cars for what seemed like hours and he kept bringing us back to his prize possession, a genuine, original 48 http://www.carsguide... said to be worth close to the Million mark, opinions vary on this fact.
Anyhoo at the end of the viewing session Charlie wanted a hand closing bonnets, locking up cars etc, I was glad to be of some assistance.
Stubtech drop axles & Where to buy axle nuts?
By Dec-150 08/12/11@14:59 Shed 4164Hey,
Does anyone know where you can buy new stub axle castle nuts for the old holdens?
Do general auto stores sell them?
Also if anyone has a HR lowered 2 inches ...and pics in your shed can you post up a link?
I'm considering drop axles from Stubtech set up for commodore brakes.
They're pricey but I plan on lowering it (don't know how much yet) and want commodore brakes and they'll aid in both.
Alternatively is anyone selling a setup to fit commodore brakes to a HR, I think my HR has HT stubs.
Cheers

Know it's been a while.Picked up a set of rear MONROE GT Gas shocks for the FX Eyelet on top stud on bottom, went to match up with the ones on the car found out they were stud top and bottom hopefully solved by swaping them for an early F*^# style rear shocks with studs on both ends.Any other FX/FJ owners found this if so how did you over come this???
Cheers Leith
FJ ute - what's it worth
By Sargo 27/11/11@20:53 4350Not an easy question to answer, but I'm really only after a rough idea on the current going rate for -
FJ ute, complete & dismantled, interior gone (no door cards, seat stuffed) The main thin is that it's rust free - no structural or panel rust to speak of, other than some surface rust wher original paint has worn away.
It's also straight - no accidents of repairs.
So a pretty honest FJ ready for restoring.
What is it worth??!!
thanks all
Am I Being Ripped Off?
By Nasty Nate 07/11/11@21:42I went to pick up my grey motor head from the reco place today, bad news, there's a crack through one of the exhaust valve seats, sad but not totally unexpected.
The problem is the reco guys got half way through machining the valve guides before they found the cracked seat, (strange),
and they've cracked five out of the six valve guides they put the k-liners in...
Now, the guy did not tell me at all about the cracked guides, and also told me the cracked seat was unrepairable, but I've just done a quick google and found at least three types of repair method that
seem to be designed for this exact problem.
So should this guy find me another head to replace the one he destroyed or don't I have a leg to stand on?
Your thoughts would be appreciated...
