Hi Mate, Most were fuel injected as you would know, the 3 litres that went into the Patrols had carbies. I have the intake manifold definately carby (If I can find it) let me know if thats what your after I'm in Adeliade. Cheers Drew

Get it off a 3 Litre Nissan GQ Patrol, They ran a carby version of the RB30.

* only up until 1992 then the patrols went to injection.

Im pulling the motor out of my 91 gq patrol today to fix some oil leaks and change the clutch. Ive been staring at this carb all weekend and wondering if I can make it faster.

I wonder if anyone makes an aftermarket manifold for a holley to suit this engine? Im googling it but not finding much.

hmm.

The Anti-pollution gear on those Nikki carbies are way over the top! They've got the honeycomb heater element under the carbie "did you do the carbie mod and remove this???", EGR, water cooling under the intake manifold as well as an auto choke * an open PCV line that goes straight from the intake manifold to the top of the rocker cover. I've got a feeling that part of the reason they run excessively rich is due to the over abundant use of anti-pollution gear "which IMO actually reduces efficiency and creates more polution - Debatable by some, but to be honest I don't give a flying F*&K" A lot of the RB30 patrol guys remove the Nikki carbs, and block off all the anti-pollution gear and install the ford xe/xf weber 34adm with great success, although it should be jetted correctly for best efficiency, power, economy and a few points should be noted when playing with these! You can play with your existing intake manifold and get a redline adaptor plate and modify it to fit the weber. I couldn't imagine that it'd be too much hassles to modify an adaptor plate to run the thing on a holley though. Probably just a matter of removing the manifold studs to the carbie, get a holley adaptor plate, drill some holes, tap in some thread and hey-presto. lol. That's how I would do it and those manifolds have plenty of room on top to adapt to different carbies!

Regards!

hi OldRedHQ,

Noticed there's one on ebay at the moment! seems to be a complete setup with a jetted weber 34adm to suit. Dizzy's supposed to be rebuilt and all. Could be what you're after!

cheers..

You can extend the tip on the rotor button, 1-2 mm from memory, that makes a massive difference and it's free and only takes a bit of time
