Gas problems....

Does anyone here have a dedicated Gas only car??? Its just that I am having trouble filling my Gas tank. I hook it up, screw it on but takes about 20mins to get a litre into my tank. Its not the pump at the servo cause I moved away an watched someone else fill up with no problem. Has anyone else had a problem like this??? Any help appreciated...

sounds like a faulty gauge on the tank

the tank probably thinks it's full and stopping the gas (like it does when the tanks full)

Gas tanks have a valve that only let's them fill to 80% capacity for safety reasons, go to a gas converter and get them to test yours and change it or fit it yourself, I think it's called an AFL (auto fill limiter) ? Cheers Glenn

i have had this problem myself, in my case the drama was with the little plastic valve in the filler neck itself. (where the fill nozzle screws on)

i pulled mine apart, the one way valve supposed to have 3 little "pegs" to allow gas to flow through, on mine these pegs were broken.

so i fired up the soldering iron and plastic welded 3 new tabs on using whipper snipper cord as filler rod. worked a treat.

Hi Im a gas mechanic and it sounds like the AFL is stuck in the full posision or as Ben says the valve in the filler line if your AFL is stuck you need to drain the tank to remove it so make sure its complety empty before takeing it to someone to repair as it can take some time to decaint it if it is the valve in the filler it can be removed with gas in the tank some times you can get the AFL to drop by removing the pressure in the filler line but it will stick in the full position next fill up but you can tell witch valve is faulty

Make sure fill valve tap is turned on at the tank if fitted

Wishing my lawn was EMO so it would cut itself...!!!

Full stop, that is, Bill.
