ek motor

I asked on just commodores the otherday about efi in a 202 actually it will be the family 3.3 blue motor that goes in the EK which will be a Sunday Car no where near as hot as I wanted it to be but I would like it be go reasonably well the blokes there told me to look at the injection system from a JE cameria which I'm thinking that's probably the way we'll do it using vk efi manifolds and injector rail.
With a trimatic 3.08 diff on 14 195 60 series tyers.
whats your thoughts on this crow cam?

Can't comment on the injection - other than "Good Luck! The rest all sounds cool though. Not sure on the exact rev range for that cam. but it should be a good "mid-range" cam, with a reasonable idle. I'd check whether it will work with the stock converter - I'm guessing you'll need a slightly higher stall - Crow will know! If the injection gets too scary, a 4-barrel manifold and 390 Holley would be an easy alternative.

hi, i can only comment on the cam , that cam is very very small / mild / , u will be able to run standard convertor & auto box without any trouble . FROM my experience with CROW cams they are fairly well crap . U would do heaps better by buying a WADE camshaft or even a WATSON . maybe even try & get onto CE camshafts . not where they are now but used to be in brisbane - they have a really good mild camshaft \ part # 715 . works just great with your setup u are going to use .

Farmingoldholdens.Just wondering what your beef is with crow cams?.I have Used Crow, Wade, Waton,Waggot, Bert Jones& Heatseeker cams in various holden sixes in various states of tune over the years and I have found Crow equal to any. I used to run an Lj sports sedan with a Duggan alloy head and used a wade cam ground to suit the combination of carbs, exhaust, compression etc that I was running. Ron and Ray at Crow offered to grind me a cam to try to find a few more hp over what I was running. Result ?, 11hp and 20 fp of torque with nothing else changed in the combination (Mainly due to subtle change in the lobe centre seperation).I have never had a Crow Cam suffer from quality issues so I can only assume you got a "one off bad one" or used a cam not suited to the right application ??.

i too have used most brands of cams but just find crow to be inferior to the rest . we all have our opinions - thats mine . i do how ever still use their retainers & collets . even their valve springs a few years ago .

You can't simply transfer 4 Cyl Injection to 6 Cyl Injection without looking deep into the Electronics.

Hi HZ Tonner308, I would give the camera injection a big miss (too muck trouble and hard to get parts also not designed for 6 cytlinder)and go for the VK injection system , much less hassle and simple to install. These motors in stansard form would match V8's of the day and would push the old EK with ease.

thanks for your comments blokes a mate of mine also said to go a wade cam.
I was at a pick a part this arvo and theres not too many je cameras there either as the standed vk ecu is a set of timers theres no-way to change or play with it and after the last 1 I played with I ve ended up with about a complete set of stuffed vk efi collectables (might have fixed 1 or 2 others) and had nothing but trouble with 2nd hand air flow meters so don't really want to go the vk system apart from the manifolds and injector rail.
from what Ive read at http://www.delcohack... along with some other threads I was under the impression that after I change the eprom in the camera ecu It can be retuned.
After a short look at a crusty camera this arvo Im currently trying to work out if the vr box is inside the camera distributor and how to wire it into a he-1.

why would you stuff around with something not designed for the job?
the VK stuff will swap straight over, is just as likely to be in good nick,(there are one or two dud camiras out there also) the injected cam is similar to XU1 cam, although is set up for different valve timing so crow would probably be better. the changes you would have to make to the fuel feed etc are the same whichever system you use.
buy a complete car so you get all the harness and bits and pieces. the VL fuel pump is a bit better as it has a straight outlet rather than a bent one and lines up better but otherwise is the same.

ya use the computer but not the chip or the loom.
the camera and VN have the same computer just different chip
you could use a computer from a VN and just get it reprogramed
