New H4 Headlight Beams in a HQ???

Hi guys. I went down and brought some new semi-sealed H4 beams to replace my original headlights that are so faded its not funny in my HQ Ute. Just wondering how people have found putting them in before??? so far i've had to cut down the original 3 way connector block that clips on the back of the light and also having trouble with the parker light. Anyone come up with a good solution for that?? The new beams come with an external parker light bulb holder but its too far under the light to use since it will hit the radiator support light holder. I brought my new lights from repco and they guy there told me that he had put a set in his torana no problems thats why i assumed they would fit in the Quie. Cheers guys.

I had the same issue with Repco with my HT and took the headlights back - they guy told me that all of them are the same design so I decided to return them got a refund.

I went to Autopro and looked through the CIBRE catalogue and found about 20 different types of 7" H4 headlights. Found the correct one, ordered it and presto! fits like a glove.

Repco used to be the place to get the parts that fit right first time, but now as my car is over 40 years old it isn't quite that simple.

Goodluck!

you can buy a H4 harness adapter to replace the plugs on the original harness.

Grammar: The difference between "knowing your shyte" and "knowing you're shyte".

Similar to Bob_oz, I had the same problem with one of my trucks, which is originally H4.

Bought a replacement headlamp and the park light bit won't fit in the cradle.

I think one was Hella and one was Narva, can't remember which way around, but my point is they are positioned differently, so if you take it back and try a different brand, you may just find one that fits.
