Carby for a red 202

Hey guys
I'm getting a recon red 202 soon for woody and I was thinking of replacing the carby at the same time.
Just wanted to get some info on what type of carby I should use, cause I'm fairly useless with carbies.
Cheers. FN.

Hi Nathan.

What do u plan to use the car for??? Are you tight on money. How much work has the motor had done to it???? All these things can help us help you.

If your not after any massive power gain, or racing it or anything like that, I really cant see wh you wouldn't use the Stromberg they came out with. Make sure it's rebuilt and in good working order and ya can't go wrong.

If your motor isn't worked a fair bit, or your not after much more power ( and thnk realisticly about fuel consumption) I can only see putting a bigger carby on as a step backward.

Anyone else have any thoughts???

320 Holley, on an aftermarket manifold, not an adaptor plate!

There's nothing wrong with the factory setup on a stock motor. If you're really keen on changing, then keep it in the family with a WW Stromberg (two barrel) from a 186S setup.

I'm still running the stock single barrel stromberg on my stock, Red 202, and can't fault it. It starts first time every time (with a little choke and a couple of small acc pumps if its been sitting for a while), and is pretty much maintenance free.

They can also be picked up reconditioned from ebay for not much money.

On a cold morning, i prefer it to the 350 Holley thats currently fitted to the EH 179. The manual choke on it is useless...... it simply wont start with it on.

Too tough to die.

Actual, the only thing that I will be changing is adding extractors and upgrading my exhaust (eventually.) But nothing major to the power, overall.
