B&M shifter?

Hi all, ok just got a bought a B&M shifter of Ebay and everyone ive mentioned it to seem to think they are nothing but a headache or just a plain pain in the bum. it is only for a standard turbo 400 behind a pretty standard 350. have i wasted my money, should i have just got a standard Tbar?
anyone find any problems whith them?

it was only a second hand shifter too.

while im at it, will the cable bracket for a th350 suit the 400?

Hey Mate,

I've got one which I need to setup too.
I got a T350/T400 bracket which bolts to the gearbox and depending on which gearbox it is you use one of the three different selector holes for the cable. Instructions can be found on their website.

From what I've heard the main concern is when using it for a trimatic.

Just got my selector bracket so I havn't had a chance to tinker yet....
see how we go....

yeh just the selector bracket on the box. I think the t400 has different mounting holes (and some spacers) to the gearbox. but its the same bracket.

All it boils down to is making sure you've attached to the right places and then just keep making minor adjustments (on the threaded cable) till you get it right

I'm still doing body prep, so I've put the shifter to the side for now - sorry.

I want to try to get it sprayed over the winter

Hey mate,
The instructions are fairly straight forward. Some really careful studying, planning and keep assessing your car, it is easy with the cable setup. I have a Pro Ratchet in my HG Holden (308, Turbo 400).
The mount bracket for the shifter is tacked to the floor, and a fairly non intrusive hole drilled to feed the cable. Hooking up to the trans was the easier part.
Just keep on those instructions.
The beauty of the kit - is that you can route to cable around obstacles (to a certain degree). Be careful it doesn't touch the exhaust. I thought I was ok, but later the cable touched and melted slightly. This made the internal cable grippy and shifts were not perfect. I remedied and made a bracket to keep the cable off the pipes.

In regards to the TH350 vs TH400 mount I'm unsure - I ordered the TH400 version and unaware of differences. But the B&M website host current models instruction manuals as PDFs - you can see if those documents show a difference.
Good luck.

Thanks mate
I've had a look at the website, it's the diagram made things alot clearer. I might have to bite the bullet and try get the right brackets from eagle spares or somewhere else if you know around Vic.
Can you bolt them straight to the floor, or do you need to weld in a plate for it to sit on?

How do you like the shifters anyway? Are they reliable?
