This aircon and controll panel are in a donor van (hj belmont) I bought this week. Has anyone even used one of these aircons? Did it keep the whole panelvan cool on a hot day? Also was this a holden option or an aftermarket option? Thanks in advance.

Curly.

hmm.

aircon...the hang on ones like this were actually better than the factory ones according to an air con guy I was talking to. can't remember why they were better, think it was the setup.
I had a working factory one in my tonner, I transplanted it from a donor vehicle was a pain to get working tho as I didn't have a clue what or why I was doing.
I used the compressor off a VH as the factory compressor used more power than the starter but i was told they were a very good compressor on the original cars.
I saw a Jaguar which was imported from Singapore back about 1970 with air, the gizzards took up about half the boot space, left just enough room for the golf clubs.

I had one of those under-dash units (that's what you've got in the picture) in my WB panel van and it worked a treat.
But instead of cooling the whole inside of the van (you only need cooling up the front unless you can drive while lying on the bed in the back!), I made up a clear divider from PVC sheet with some press studs which fit where the headlining finished and went down behind the seat. Cheap and easy.

"If your car has quarter vents, a diff at the back, and was available with wind-down windows, you may talk to me.
Otherwise I am not interested. Amen."

thanks for the feedback hg, i was thinking of a curtain that would hang behind the seats too. im going to try to tie this aircon into the vacume statesman vent system thats in my 4x4 already.
