I'm guessing holden fan assumes that it is an L34 cause it is not a hatchback?, and may not realise that a9x's were available in four door as well . I'm lead to believe a bigger percentage of road going a9x's were sedans , not hatches ?.

Nah, mate, the L34 wouldn't pass ADR27A and was already Homologated for racing so the A9X had to make do with a stock L31.

The ONLY mod to it (for road going use) was the deletion of the engine fan which was replaced by thermo fans. The A9X was the first Holden, maybe the first Australian car, to NOT run an engine driven fan.

I always thought that L34 referred to the engine spec not the whole car. I was also under the belief that the A9X was the LH(?) with UC rear floor pans to accomodate the later suspension. The question mark is there as I don't know which was later, the LH or LX

A9X didn't come about till 1977 Sandown 500,
they were introduced as a Performance Equipment Package option and not a special model.

Available with the LX Torana SL/R or SS with the 5.0 litre V8 engine.
