308 LJ Torana

I have been asked by a friend to inspect an LJ 2 door torana fitted with a 308 which he is looking at buying. The car is in Hobart and is in pieces, but is still registered (here in Hobart no yearly rego check is needed). I haven seen the car yet, only from a distance. What should I look for? I've been told the car has an engenner's report, also the car may be moved to Queensland, would they accept the Tasmanian engeneer's report? Any info would help thanks.

In pieces?

Check for rust, around /under rear and front screen seals, lower rear corners of doors.

Steering coupling, pull on the wheel and check for movement

Check for play in ball joints, steering etc

If it has a recent engineers CERTIFICATE it should be half decent, but use a common sense approach there are some dodgey V8 conversions kickin around.
