FX Paint Colour - Confirmed

Although my FX ute is a long way off finished I finally confirmed the exterior paint colour, it will be an original colour - Glenn Green.

I want to use an original colour for the interior trim as well, i have bought the Don Loffler books which have a wealth of information on paint and trim colours and from what i can see the FX ute only had 3 x trim colours available - brown, walnut brown and merridan grey. Is this correct? does anyone know what colour trim goes best with Glenn Green?

If my ute had a plate stating what the original paint and trim colours were i would stick with it however mine had none when i purchased it.

If anyone has any photos of an FX or FJ ute paint Glenn Green with maybe an interior shot that would be great.

I have attached a photo of my utes current statis, not much has happened for a while.

Mark.

Is Glenn Green that real dark looking green? I was wondering how much your V6 conversions frontend set you back?

Ps, Where can I get hold of a rotisiere like the one you have?

Cheers

Old Holdens never die, they just get hotted up.

The V6 conversions front end was $4,700 plus steering rack plus commodore stub axels plus tie rod ends, plus new commodore bearing kits plus plus plus plus. i think it has cost over $5,500 all up.

As for the rotisserie, it was the cheapest one i could find on ebay, can't remember the companies name but i know it was in Adelaide, cost around $1,200. Cheap.

If it was ok with you, would it be possible to see some pics of your Rotisserie from different angles. Being a Boilermaker/welder myself, it would be fairly straight forward to make a copy of.

This will certainly make life easier when it comes to starting my FJ ute project.

Cheers in advance.

Glen Green is what i'd call a apple green colour looks quite good in 2pac
I've seen plenty of FX holdens with this colour and most fx 's i've seen utes & sedans were painted the same colour inside not the grey as you mention that was found more often on the sedans
Whole Don loflers book is a great resource there is a lot of misleading information as well

My father had a mint Glenn Green FX ute for many years. It was a 53 model that he called 53 and a half because it had a lot of the next models (FJ) features.I think the front suspension and front overiders from memory were FJ. It sat in a museum down at Arthur's Seat near Dromana for many years before being sold to a collector in Queensland with I think about 70 odd thousand miles on the clock. It had the Grey interior and really suited it. My father had the first FX ute in the western district of Victoria (Horsham) when new in 1951. It was a rare colour called Caspian Blue,a very dark metallic. I could scrape up photos of both if you'd like. Cheers.
