hello ado.the floor pan, rails etc, firewall, front of roof, subbies is ute.the back half of roof, boot rear gaurds is car. i,ll have to find a side on shot to put on.these sort of customs were very popular in the sixties. custom rodder number 7 has feature on a good one from south australia.it is still around today.
Yeah bit like that we got a fair bit of rain, and a hell of a wind on saturday night (took a good 7m sheet of tin off the top of the shed), Your yard would be pretty boggy would'nt it?
Was this in AMC a couple of issues back??
I recon the car in Custom Rodder may have been called "The Bobcat"...Streetmachine did a feature on it some years back. Pretty sure it runs a Norman supercharger on the Grey and some rare Tasman mags. Why rare? They were made with the FX/FX "wide five" stud patern. I have never seen a set of FJ mags in the flesh...plenty of wide steels but no Tasmans or Rod Cities.
Also many years back at the Bendigo swap I saw a Holden coupe..it was called "The Don Special".I knew it was one of the early customs, but didnt find out until years later that it was also one of "key" cars of its time.
I recon there was also a letter in AMC looking for The Don Special.
Cheers

hello.this car and some of my others were in amc out of action couple of years ago. the car in custom rodder was the bobcat, built by bob moule from SA,still around today.was featured in street machine a while back.as a kid grew up reading custom rodder, there used to be quite a few of the type customs in that magazine. tom james from shepparton has another old 60s custom chopped/modified 2 door custom fj with a simca grille, was in the mags about 5 year ago.
good looking old car, looks like original build. has changed a bit since this photo.if you go back thru old hot rod,car mags you see a few of these old customs. cheers
FJ Coupe
This looks interesting.
Would love to see it from the side.
Is it built on the ute chassis?
