re post a 2bbl weber 34 adm on to a 253
hi all. i got a new idea on puting a 2bbl weber 34 adm on a 253 . by useing a 3 inch mixing chamber in beteen the carby and manifold so its a adaptor plate and mixing chamber all in one. so it feeds the split plane manifold evenly. but that maens cutting air cleaner hole in bonnet and use some thing like a a9x scoop to cover the air cleaner. has any body tryed some thing like this. john

34ADM on 253
Hi John, yes mate already done it. I had a reverse bonnet scoop and a hole thru the bonnet already so I used a solid slab of aluminium about 40mm thick as the basis for an adaptor. I ran the carby lengthways. I bored 2 holes straight thru the aluminium to line up with the venturies then blended them out to suit the 4 barrel manifold. The carby was attached by drilling and tapping 5/16 unc threads directly into the adaptor I made. It was a bit of stuffing around of course, so how did it run.........?
Well actually really well. Great cold and hot starting. Choke was brilliant, great torque and economy, and top end was quite reasonable. Certainly the best petrol only carby I had on the 253. I am at work now, but I will dig up a photo or two of the conversion to give you an idea, as soon as I can.
