Turbocharging HR 202

Hi all.

Got a HR ute with a blue 202 motor, only had it for about a week.
the bloke i bought it off also had a new turbo, VK injection head and manifold with it.
I'm thinking of using the setup, but i don't just want to bolt it on and hope for the best.
I want to rebuild the engine first.
I've got minimal knowledge in the turbocharging sort of thing.
What would be the best biuld to run a turbo??
cam, commpression, crank, pistons ect. ect...
Also any decent engine builders in the newcastle area? would travel to sydney if i have to.

Thanks, Ray

Decide what sort of

Decide what sort of drivability you want first and what you want from it or to do with it then build accordingly.

I've got an eaton M90 blower of the side of mine. and cam was custom ground to suit application. Head is 12 port black head ported & polished, OS stainless valves, roller rockers, antilift hydraulic lifters, double valve springs, then had to get different collets, retainers to get correct valve installed height.

Has decomp plate to lower compression to cope with boost, you may not need as you have turbo head and probably use correct pistons to give the compression you want.

Bottom end is Starfire.

If your handing to an engine builder anyway then just tell him what you want and let them do what your paying them to.

Well i want drivability on

Well i want drivability on the street, not building a drag.
I want it to put down some power tho. knock some rice burners off if you know what i mean.
What sort of power do you get from your setup?

I'm going to be doing most of the work myself. I'll just be using the engine builder for the machining, balacing ect.
if need be.

Haven't been on for a while.

Haven't been on for a while. It's yet to go on a dyno but will let everyone know when it does. The dizzy is going to get regraphed once it's blue plated.

All I can say is from my experience make sure you get it down what you want and then go for it. If it's a streeter don't go a hot cam get a cam ground to suit your application. Talk to a cam company (i used crow) let them know the boost you'll be achieving, fuel type, compression. Go as large as you can fit with your valves if are having your head done.

Then ensure bottom end is balanced and strong. After that suitable clutch or torque converter, strengthened box and suitable diff.

After all this is said and done do not forget to upgrade your brakes also. It's fun to make our vehicles go quick but gotta make sure they'll stop too.
