Twin Strombergs???

Hay there,

Dose anyone have anything to say about a Twin Stromberg set up on a 186? Just look at dressing the motor up and getting it recond' and just look at other carby options. I have had a 350 on a 186 and i am never doing it again!!

The Twin Strombergs look pretty neet but do they have any advantages? If so.... how much? And how much more fuel should i expect to use if i went doww that path???

Thanks all

350

He's a member of OldHolden.com, of course he hates Holley 350
's.

We can brainwash anyone. He wants 34ADM weber or VK EFI. He just doesn't know it yet. :-P

350 holleys

hi, nothing wrong with 350 holley on 186 - other than the fact that they will give u fu#k all power compared to a good set of twin stromies . strombergs are simple to tune & look heaps better than any holley sitting on a 186 . go the twin carb set up .

Don't waste your time with

Don't waste your time with the stromberg's, Weber ADM's or VK EFI. They're a poor man's choice. If you've got the time, and obviously cash! get a set of triple side draughts. They're the bees knees for old holdens. Can't beat that look either!.

Cheers.

186Beavis!.

twins

Its a good setup mate, will use a bit more fuel but probably not as much as the 350. will give you a bit more power you'll notice it compared to a single stromberg, just make sure both carbys are setup exactly the same.
Looks the bomb too, check out the ones I'm using

1in & 7/32 x 2 on my 186 and a bit.
I can't remember the jet size as I had some smaller ones re-sized, 63 or maybe 64.
The restricted manifold only lets mine to rev to about 6K.

And they just use way to much fuel, so much that it would spit black [Naughty Pottyword] out the exhust

Obviously the mechanic wasn't

Obviously the mechanic wasn't worth pissing on. Definately wouldn't take my car there. I don't waste my time with people that know less than I do about carbies/mechanics. I don't believe that a 350 holley is the best option for any holden six, but a well sorted holley will run quite fine. Nothing else. No, they aren't generally the most efficient carbie to run on fuel, but they can be. Ever heard of vernturi sleeves?. I got my old holley off ebay for $100 and it's never let me down. Still on my car now. Idles perfect dead cold, and powers nicely along the highways. My Holley wasn't brand new, just apparently re-manufactured at some stage. Didn't look like it was done recently that's for sure. If I did have a choice between carbies, no the holley wouldn't be my choice, but it's something that I know and know to be reliable under the right hands. Generally, the people that can't get these things going don't have a clue on what they're doing.

Twin Strombergs

These worked OK on X2's but Holden abandonded them for WW Strombergs which would be less trouble to set up and keep in tune.

Yep Holden went to a WW, it was cheaper to produce.
I recon either option will put a smile on your face.
I've had a couple of Holley's, on a 302. Good for performance but not much else.

WW2 is the much better

WW2 is the much better option. Like 'T' said.
