real

is a real concept, but from 2008, built as part of the new chev camaro project, but due to WFC & GM's bankruptcy, it's been shelved.

Utter Garbage! This come of a website and was computer generated as the monaro was never part of the VE series of vehicles! Camaro was well and truely near completion by then and has nothing to do with this.

elec cars

it could be the new electric car for holden.China is going to mass thier electric car with in 2 years and the word is their going to be cheap and that it will make petrol driven cars obsolete because who would want to pay petrol prices when you can just plug in and recharge. This is the outcome of the fiancial crisis and america bailing out car companies and the so called global warming which rudd has hitched his wagon to just to be popular

what ever became of

what ever became of pillarless?isnt that the attraction?the germans can do it.

An SSV has a rear boot spoiler.
The Monaro is dead.

Automotive bigotry explained (streetneat)

It still amazes me that folk throughout the ages have always thought the current Holdens are rubbish and not what they used to be. Yet as time wears on and the older the current crop gets its slowly accepted into folklore as an all time favourite.

Growing up in the 70's the cars then were not favoured by the older generation much and considered modern rubbish. Jump forward 30 plus years and that hasnt changed. Commodores are now considered modern rubbish by the peers on this site for example.

Yet the day eventually comes when they are considered classics. So when was the day that a car like HG suddenly gained respect? At what age does a car become a classic?

Now I am a Hot Rodder in amongst other things. Yet I can derive the same enjoyment from my Modern VZSSZ Crewman as I do from building a hot rod or a classic. I feel lucky I am not limited by a cars age. I can enjoy each car for what it has to offer.

Interestingly the same guys that years ago spoke of cars like HG's as modern rubbish still hold that viewpoint. Some of the rodders I have worked with consider ALL Holdens and Falcons/ Valiants as modern rubbish and worthless.

So the same guys that are 'dissing' Commodores today will always dislike them. The old Buggers that think cars like HG's are modern rubbish are slowly dying out. The bigotry has crept forward in time but hasnt gone away.

So the cars like HG's once were discriminated against like the current Commodores. I own both and like each one for what it is.

Bigotry or minority or both???

Andrew, surely you would have noticed that every time a late model car, (ie: Commodore), is slagged off, it's usually a small minority doing the slagging.

Imagine how many / few cars Holden would have sold, if it didn't progress forward with it's design and engineering! Not everyone is into old cars, and not everyone should have an old car - that's why we have new cars.

I love my old tin, but I would hate to see how shopping trolley dinted, and scratched my cars would be, if I didn't have the sacrificial Commodores for this task. Go and take your old cars, (or new ones for that matter), to a shopping centre, and sit far enough away from them, so you are not obvious, yet close enough to see what goes on.

I reckon you'd end up in a blue each time, because a huge amount of people coming and going from carparks, have jack sh!t respect for anybody else's property. It gives you the sh!ts leaving your late model car there, let alone your nicely done up old Holden.

Besides all that, I am quite proud that the Commodore is the number one selling car again! I would rather see Commodores everywhere, than bloody imported crap. Where's your patriotism??

I always have a laugh when Australia day comes along, or other patriotic events, and people have those Aussie flags flapping around there windows - the bulk of them would have to be on asian imports, (toyota's, mazda's, hyundai's, kia's etc.), how patriotic is that!!

Go The Holden!!!! (Old or new).

different views

Its amazing to see the different views of people with new an old cars especially holdens. Im only 23 an i love both new and old. Im the proud owner of A 05 VZ Monaro, 68 HK Prem and a 70 HT Ute and just love each one for there individuality and styling. Maybe i'll be one of them old fellas one day who thinks new cars are garbage. We'll have to wait an see.

model concept car

i have seen something along these lines at. http://www.classicca...
not a production car though, thats a pity, i quite like the look.

Agree with you

Agree with you Streetneat...all Holdens old and new serve their purpose.
As much as i love driving my HJ....it wont match my VT6 for comfort.
Also agree with you Bruno, most of my mates and wives have imports and then occasionally complain about the economic state of the country.....i make sure i let them know whats in their driveway and the car is most likely the second biggest debt every family has.
Things are looking better for GM and Holden with sales up and the Camaro sales up 21% on last month and outselling the Dodge and Mustang.
The Volt is getting good reviews being a proper hybrid.
The bad part is that Hyundai have jumped to number 3 bumping Ford to 4th.
This country needs both firing.

March that car was the Coupe60....a stunner in real life.
Things may come out of it in the future as long as the US GM is happy with Holdens revenue, they might let them play with more concept cars.

Not convinced

Nice points lads.....but in my eyes Commo's are still heaps.
