Commodore trimatic into a hg

I was just wondering if its possible to change the selector shaft from a commodore trimatic to the other side so that I can run it in my Hg. And if so how much work is involved in doing so. Its to fit behind a 186. Is there any other problems I may have doing this? Thanks

Changing Selector Shaft Sides

People have posted up to say they've had it done by Specialists but I wouldn't recommend it because the Selector Shaft Seal is easy to upset resulting in an unstoppable Leak.

Be aware that there is a difference between Commodore and Kingswood internal Selector Spools.

It's been posted here that the difference in travel causes the Gear Lever Selector to be mis-aligned and the internal Gear Selection fails to select the correct Gear if the Spool and the Detent don't match.

That last point could be very relevant since Kingswood Selector Shafts didn't come in the nearside form.

Trimatic shift

The shift in a Torana is the same as that in an HQ and they come for left and right shift. Friend swaped his right shift T bar to left shift for Commodore box by pulling pin and changing over, and it worked fine.

Unless right shift T bar gearbox is different to column shift.
