Powerglide to Manual

Thinking of changing the powerglide out of the GTS 307 and replacing it with a manual box. The auto is ok but would prefer the drivability of a manual. Was thinking of putting in a T5 to give a good cruising 5th gear. Any thoughts, anyone done this, CRS bellhousing kit? not sure what I'll need

A holden v8 t5 ex-90's commodore will have the right chev/turbo pattern bellhousing etc (no need for conversion one). Is a bit of mucking around (crossmember, hydraulic clutch setup, speedo, tailshaft) but should be doable.
Turbo 700 auto would give you the overdrive etc., probably be a lot easier.

Both the T700 and the T5 will give you grief trying to fit them into the tans tunnel.

Having said that, if you're not scared of cutting the tunnel then go for the T5. CRS will sell you a gearbox adapter thing to allow you to still use your existing gearbox crossmember from memory ?.... ring them and see.

Use a T5 from a 6 cyl Ford though, the gear stick will come through the floor in a better place, more forward. The Commodore T5 has the gear shift coming out right to the back....and smack bang in the middle of the stiffening brace that runs under the floor and over the hump.

All the T5 internals are basically the same anyway...Ford/Holden, 6cyl and V8.

Thanks for that info. Don't really want to attack the tunnell too much, might see what else will fit, maybee an M21
