Bad Vibrations

I own a 1983 VH commodore. It is a 4 speed manual with a 253 V8. It is a sedan. One thing i have noticed while i drive it is when there is some weight in the rear of the car it sags and it develops a severe vibration as i accelerate up through the gears. I was wondering what is causing it, how it can be fixed, and what could be the possible cost?

any info would be muchly appreciated.

Cheers.

These run a two piece tailshaft, the centre bearing does go on them, this may be the problem. Otherwise look at universal joints for starters.

I would tend to think perhaps these are two unrelated issues. Sagging in the back is most likely to be the rear springs and shokies, I had this same problem in my commodore, rear shocks are easy to replace and springs arent much harder. The vibration sounds like a problem I also had, in my case it was the gearbox mount. Does the gear stick vibrate? Otherwise yeah I would say to check the uni joints, possibly even the centre bearing.
