Way too much boost for drums on a HR. You will just lock it all up and slide into oblivion.
Drum brakes can be boosted with an aftermarket proportioning system in conjunction with a VH40 Booster. But honestly why go to all that bother? Esepiacally when you can just add the proper disc brake system to the car and make a world of difference. Bar in mind when upgrading to Disc brakes the rear wheel cylinders will have to be changed to suit the new braking system up the front - or you will be locking the rears all the time- not a good thing in an oldholden.

Cheap, Fast, Good - pick two. If its cheap and its fast - it wont be good.

You can use certain versions of the VH40 on 4 wheel drums. There are versions that produce the same line pressure as the VH44 unit. Do you know exactly which unit you have? If so look at the link below. It is a list of the various VH44/40 units and shows the pressure they produce. Most VH44 produce 850-920 output pressure. The VH40D and VH40DC also produce this same line pressure. It's worth a look.
