Anyone had to make a clame with Shannons?

Ive just had the displeasure(I wish I could say pleasure) of having to make a couple of insurance clames with Shannons recently and was wondering if anyone else has had any dealings with them when the time comes to make a clame and what they thought of there service and any other thoughts? Any one know of any other simmilar types of insurance companys that are any good when dealing with old cars ect?

oldholden will probably be doing some advertising for Ryno Insurance once the upgrades are done.
Speak to Brendan the manager for a quote.

Shannons.....

I have 3 cars and house & contents with Shannons. I claimed when I had a small electrical fire in my kitchen. They were very good. Nothing was too much trouble. But never made a claim for the cars...
Should I be worried..?

Insurance Worries

I say don't worry too much but definitely worry enough to read the details of the Insurance Contract very carefully so you know what is covered and what is not. Worry about all the tricks that the big guys do you'll need medical help.
I'd be interested where Sloths Contract has failed him. Also the Insurer decides not the Broker to what is done with claims, people deal with a Broker.

I've been speaking to Brendan(Ryno) for probably a year now about Advertising here amongst other things. I even did a check on Ryno (which I told him about, lol) with a contact in the Industry and I was duly impressed.
One of the things I have been showing him is the Car Tracking Alarms as the Asian ones and the Asian ones everyone is selling just don't cut it any way I look at them(other than a good earner and burner).
I also have a bit of interest from a local manufacturer friend ( http://www.natcomm.c... ). The Wintersun theft thing was a bit too predictable.

Shannons

I wouldnt be to worried. However its just taken about 6 weeks for them to get around to resolving my latest claim. The assessors I have delt with seem to be trained in the art of being major tight arses as well, disputing in my case wether or not certain componants I belive to be damaged should be replaced. In all Id have to say that I am unhappy with the time they have taken in dealing with the claims and the assessors judgement and attitude in dealing with the claim, the people in the call centre however seem to be genuinely good to deal with.

Sloth

I'd imagine they are well trained.
The Assessors are from the Insurer(see the bottom of shannons webpage). The call center is Shannons.
Best thing to get what you want is stick your heels in as they do move and drama queening around does work ;) Get to a court situation and you will lose.

Shannons

Gidday mate,
Only dealt with them the one time (all 3 of my cars are comprehensively insured with them) and even though I ran into myself in my own shed they were no worries at all, helpful and very easy to deal with.
Cheers
Al

i have two cars insured with them

not a problem with them at all, the HQ insured for nearly $15,000 and the wifes ford for about $5000, Total premium is just on $1000 for both cars

Wife had a claim on the ford with no problems at all. choice of repairer, assessor went to wifes work to assess damage

no problem at all, aslo received phone call to confirm work was carried out and asked whether i was happy with service

i rate Shannons highly

regards John

Thanks for all the replies.

What sort of damage did you do to what model O.H.?

Cheers Kev

Flood damage to componants

Flood damage to componants of a HT that has laid up cover, the car is apart to repair the rust in the front rails and the shed the cross member, transmision and engine are in flooded in all that rain we had recently. The engine was high and dry however the rest all went for a swim.

Shannons

We tried to insure a 62 Impala convertible with them the other day.

Car is restored, is garaged in a monitored premises, driven once a month etc. We wanted an agreed value of a little over 50K.

It was a joke dealing with the guy on the phone. He really was not at all interested in dealing with us. Whilst you can't judge a whole company by one staff member, it still makes you think, what will happen should I make a claim?

Streetneats Shannon's experience

I had to make a claim on my VZ SSZ Crewman just a week before coming to NZ! Boy was I pissed when an idiot ran a red light - and we ran into him. Shannons let me do the repair which was all done within a few days before I had to put the car into its container. The money came through a few days before we left for good and had to cancel our insurance. Shannons also knew I was leaving the country - yet still paid. Highly recommended.
I did deal with them one other time for an EJ - the assessor was a knob - and I let them know that. It had a good outcome in the end but the assessor needed reaming for giving Shannons a bad run.
