Time for a new garage....
THANKS

Well, this garage is overflowing, so I've got a few prices for a new one. I'm looking at a 6X7m colourbond one, but I need your input please. Do I make it long or wide..? If I make it wide, I can probably open the car doors easier, but have less room down the back. Long, and I'll have more room down back, but tighter fit width-wise. Make sense..? What do you's think?
(I'll eventually have 2 HRs in it)
Thanks.......Tim.

shed size
a new shed!!, ya bloody lucky bugger, (yes i'm jeolous)
personally i'd go skinny and long and put a workshop area down the back
but i'd really settle for anything, lol

Is it not possible
to go wide and long? If not I would go long and skinny for the workshop at the end option.
.Hmm...
THANKS
That's 2 long, and 1 wide...
I think I'm leaning towards long, not wide.
Sliver: Yeah, I can get 7X7, but 6X7 fits good...

go with what your budget
go with what your budget dictates you can always add on later
My shed is 20'x24' which
My shed is 20'x24' which works out pretty close to 6m wide x 7m long. I have room to open the car doors with a work bench down the back. It's about half the size I need.
Just remember to get wide, at least 2.7m wide, roller doors or you might end up like me with doors that are 3" too narrow to get your car trailer in. I also have a removable centre strip that the doors run in. My doors are 2.7m, my mums, where I wanted to keep the trailer, are 2.4m :(
David
shed depends
if the passengers are careful with the doors i would go narrow and have room down the back. but if your passengers are like mine, my doors get munted and shunted on the brick wall of my garage :(
sheds
just for interest sake, my mate has a shed for sale, iirc it is 6m by 9m, steel frame and trusses, electric tilt door and lights, it was disassembled to be moved to his new house, but he has decided to sell it instead
he wants $1000 for it, located in ballarat area

G'day Dave.
As long as it is too far for Tim I wouldn't mind having a look at the shed.
I'll send you an e-mail.

7 long X 6 wide
Then later add 6 X 6 carport onto the front of it,
for extra work space or temporary storage space ! while you working on one of your cars.

Size Does Matter
Now that you have made your mind up, I will throw a spanner in the works. I would go wide. You can always add another section to the rear of the shed when the budget allows, but its impossible to widen a shed without major surgery.
It wont matter how big it is, they seem to shrink and are never big enough.

What you need
What you need is a 25 X 50 metre shed,
18 metres high .
Basically you build it along the fence lines of your property and this will do away for need of a 6 X 7 metre shed
which is small by comparsion now !
One giant SHED over your entire house and yard
You will be a happy man !!!!!!
Just step outside the house and your in the shed
only a couple of problems could be tracking down your tools, because not only will you have the backyard to work in but the front as well,
and you"ll have no excuses like "the grass is to wet to cut I'll do it later".
Be like living in your own world ...
What I need..?
THANKS
Sounds perfect.
Now I just gotta convince her...

Shed story, There were two
Shed story,
There were two old brothers on a farm just down the coast from here. If any of your have ever heard of Kylie Tennant (the author), the brothers were sons of the Metcalf family in her book, The Man on The Headland. Sixty odd years ago they started collecting old cars that weren't worth anything and stripping them. They have both died, the last about ten years ago.
One of my mates had known one of the brothers all his life, and began selling parts off for the estate rather than see it all go for scrap.
Anyway, when they died two of their sheds were that full of parts you could not get inside, literally. The two sheds were 80' x 80' each. The overflow was in the smaller 60' x 40' shed.
EJ Holden were the most modern parts in the shed, early Model T about the oldest. You can get in the sheds now but there is still masses of old parts, including several Ford sidevale V8s and a large carpet snake that seems to enjoy hanging from the rafters and scaring the crap out of people.

Rescue Package
Tim,
Sorry about the spanner I threw in earlier but been a top sort of bloke I am I have come up with a solution.
Sell me the ambulance. Then you wont need a bigger shed.
Cheers
