Water pump failure, internal damage?

hey fellas,

I was driving home from work and I'm guessing the water pump bearing failed causing it and the fan to explode into the rad. Damage includes all pulleys, timing belt slipped off, balancer, radiator and the obvious of course. My question is would there be any internal damage at all, I'm guessing there would be chunks of metal from the pump where the pump is on the block. The car ran for another 10 meters as I was mid corner and to get the the side of the road to avoid traffic. My concerns are for the internals versus the list above.

Thank you in advanced.

no pun intended, are you certain it was not the harmonic balancer letting go that did all that damage?

just the flange on the pump shaft has come off with the fan going into the radiator. I had this happen once on a 202 Hx. I replaced the water pump and had the radiator soldered up where the fan had cut into it.. car ran for years without any problems. If you remove the water pump and closely inspect it you should be able to tell if there is any evidence of metal on the inside...if there is that that metal would only be within the cooling circuit and you can flush it out..it does't come into contact with any engine parts that are lubricated by oil.
