Hi all - i have a 1968 HK Ute, painted in Kiewa Grey, a fleet colour for SEC/Hydro etc. It's not the greatest looking colour, but seems to be fairly rare. Does anyone have any advice on keeping this in the original colour when i re-paint or changing it? I'm on the fence at the moment.

Kiewa Grey
I grew up in the Kiewa Valley, and as a kid all my mates folks drove cars this colour, brings back memories just thinking about it.
as to your decision... if it was me ... if you doing it up as a bling bling show car, then no, if you want an original old cruiser, then yes, that grey would be a perfect colour for a "work ute patina" theme,

I'd keep it the original grey
I'd keep it the original grey, and paint it Acrylic so it has the sheen of the oroginal paint.
The shine of clear coat over modern paint just doesn't seem right on original old cars.

Old is good.
Kiewa Cool
Yep David^, also that colour can look very cool if you do the wheels to match with thin whitewall or redwall tyres (I know they're not for everybody)but would look classycool!..just a thought?...
Similar to this pic!...
Cheers Al....

I’d paint it a colour you
I’d paint it a colour you actually like, at the end of the day it’s yours, so satisfy yourself, not the restorers. Personally I dig patinaed cars.

How original is the rest of the car?
I'd leave it the same and use acrylic if the rest of the car is unmolested and quite authentic..but if it isn't then I'd go with a colour that you like...I quite like the austerity of the old fleet cars - often Standards and Belmonts with no frills..just plain and simple..
