Holden Engine 179X

Hi have a 179x installed in my HR Holden Sedan when I bought it. Just wondering whether they were sold as an option from the factory to the dealership? Also how much are they currently worth? Thanks

Someone has fitted that engine as a replacement for whatever was there before. HR's had either a 161,or 186 as standard. The early models had an X2 version of the 186, later to become the 186S and a single 2 barrel carburettor replacing the X2 twin set up.
No 179 engines in HR.

Thanks for feedback walpolla but the motor was upgraded to a 186 by GEM Engineering so I think it is quite unique.

Nah it's not an X2, but it's a 179 Special with factory powerglide (2 speed) auto.
But now it's a 253 spec trimatic & I'm in the middle of fitted a warm 202 (BIG BLOCK) it'll have genuine X2 header's inlet manifold that's had a re-bore to suit 186 carbs.
As a rule of thumb HD X2 had a pair 149 carby's & HR X2 had a pair of 161 carby's
& my X202 will be sporting a pair of 186 carby's once it's run in.
