Springs for a HZ V8

Just wondering if people can tell me if all the springs are the same for HQ to HZ. I know they will fit between models but where they all the same height etc?

No springs (factory) vary between models, for instance a V8 Statesman front spring is different to a V8 commercial with respect to free height, number of active coils, total number of coils, spring rate and wire diameter...that's why they have a different ride characteristic...after market springs are a different matter and will be more universal than the original factory springs...when you order them they will identify if suitable for your model

Thanks. Does the Monaro GTS sit lower from factory than a standard kingswood?

I would say no in standard form as the specified height of a HZ gts is the same as a Premier and only 2mm lower than a Kingswood...they had slightly lower profile tyres but slightly wider so there would not have been any practical difference re wheel/tyre diameter..I'd say the extra weight accounted for the few mm...

Thanks Andrew very informative. I was just confused as king springs have a different part number between Monaro and kingswood so assumed they might be different in height. Perhaps spring rate is slightly different instead

I'd suggest you give them a call direct (info available on their website) and discuss...it's possible their Monaro springs are a stiffer ride than the Kingswood....performance vs comfort..their tech area should be able to advise you...I fitted their "lowered" springs on my Statesman and the height is just right for me...a bit lower than standard but no hassles in and out the drive or over speed bumps which can be a problem with the super and ultra low versions...I think 30mm below standard would be perfect for a Monaro..overall the after market springs tend to be quite a bit shorter (but not sit lower) than the OEM springs which makes them easy to install....
