Hi Ben this was the model fitted to the HX Caprice and LE Monaro...not sure if similar units were fitted to earlier models by the factory though...I'm certain there was nothing from the factory for the HK vintage..possibly HQ/HJ?..HK would have been very early in the technology so era of 8 track so anything in the day would be after market..even the HK Brougham only had a radio - no cassette player....http://oldholden.com... http://oldholden.com...

Yeah, the HKTG did have a cassestte player. It's very rare apparently, I've never seen one. But I don't think it was 8 track, but was a cassette player?
Actually, I have a cassette player that goes into the 8 track slot to play cassettes. Also got a bunch of 8 track tapes.. Sorry I haven't helped much Ben.

the 8 track was not a GM product for the HQ-HJ they were an aftermarket one's.
My Dear old dad had one in his HJ Prem when he got it new off the show room floor. and was located under the radio where there was a little shelf like.
When we were "Little kids we thort it was great.
Sadly little kids grow up to be "BIG Kids" and think there "Uncool" and are removed..........
If only we new that back then ?
Finding one is going to be a bit of a problem, as meany throw them out and now are worth a few dollars,
oh well
To the DeLorean and Back to the Future lol

as I always say, stay safe all

I put a broken 8-track in my hk,but I gutted it and put a "Hidden stereo" unit in it, with a remote next to be bonnet pull cable. USB / SD / FM RADIO. You get access to the unit through the flap to put in the usb.

If you can find an amp and speakers this type of mp3 works well and is low cost. https://www.ebay.com...
