Brake booster reconditioning

Hey guys,
As you may have picked up from a comment in a post by someone the other day, I need my original V8 brake booster recoed.
Does anyone have any idea on price? and who does them?
Also is a V8 booster the same as a 6cyl?

I have the original to send off so I don't want to buy a new one (700 bucks on ebay)
Many thanks in advance for your advice.
Regards,
Alby

Any reputable brake specialist should be able to do it.
I know a specialist in Port Macquarie if you can't find one.

gee $700 seems quite a lot...I replaced one on a HZ many years ago (exchange) and remember it was quite expensive then...just having a look on you tube there doesn't exactly seem all that much to rebuilding them and it doesn't look too complicated...not sure if DIY kits exist...possibly an option if you are handy...I'm thinking the disc boosters for the HKTG would be the same and diff to drums...on later models there was no diff between 6 and 8 to my knowledge...I needed to replace mine a long time ago because the master cylinder was leaking and brake fluid caused issues with the booster ...so worth considering the root cause of why your booster needs replacing...maybe just old tired rubber...

When my old booster packed it in (just before going over the pits for rego after 12yrs off the road) I grabbed an aftermarket unit, It was a quick cheap fix. Worst decision ever, id say the diaphragm in my original had perished. I've has continual issues ever since and im over it

yes a lot of varying "quality" out there...are you confident it's the booster itself causing problems? Brakes are important and even when working ok with a lot of the older cars you have to drive extra careful in modern traffic...give yourself some extra space and someone will jump in at the last moment and make life harrowing at times...I've always used brakes sparingly and use gears but it never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that just keep accelerating towards a red light and slam on the brakes at the last minute...they must go through pads and discs quickly
